Meet Vaughnchette “Lady V” Rudisill

We were lucky to catch up with Vaughnchette “Lady V” Rudisill recently and have shared our conversation below.

Vaughnchette “Lady V”, so great to have you sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our readers and so let’s jump right into one of our favorite topics – empathy. We think a lack of empathy is at the heart of so many issues the world is struggling with and so our hope is to contribute to an environment that fosters the development of empathy. Along those lines, we’d love to hear your thoughts around where your empathy comes from?

I consider empathy as a gift. Empathy has taught me to check my mirror on this journey called life not for how I look but for how am I moving and existing in the world today. It forced me to look beyond my next goal, mission, or task. Empathy humanized me as a leader. I won’t misrepresent by stating I have always been empathetic because I have not.

I can recall some examples of refusing to stop in all my pursuits to notice there was a person in front of me who needed me to remember that life happens to us all. What gives birth to empathy? Life Lifing! Until you lose a loved one, wait an extended amount of time for medical test results that could change your life or your loved one’s life…you won’t get it.

Until you have gone through having no clue where the next meal, tank of gas, mortgage, rent, or utility payment will come from…you won’t get it.

Empathy is developed when life is disrupted.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I own a consulting company that focuses on women who have experienced life disruption. They may have an empty nest and now home feels weird. They may have once been in a committed relationship and now are attempting to navigate just knowing how they like their eggs. Knowing how we like our eggs is my private tribute to the Runaway Bride movie starring the incomparable Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. In this life, if we are not careful we can easily forget who we are, what our purpose is, and how to enjoy life as an individual. One of the services I offer is emotional support coaching.

Many of us are passing our days on autopilot. What if there was a way to shake ourselves awake to fully experience life? What if we stopped to ask what am I here for? What if every “yes” that we gave….we really meant it? Or maybe we need help developing the courage to say “no”. My brand is not separate from how I live my life which is to be unapologetically authentic. I am here to help women rediscover their voices amid all the different hats they may wear in their everyday lives.

I am always excited to see women reawaken the Queens within!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three most important qualities for me were knowing I needed God, embracing transparency during all seasons, and avoiding reliving the past! For those who are intentionally on the journey, I would say: Laugh at yourself, journal no matter what, and keep asking yourself to step outside of any situation you are facing. Be honest and ask what needs to change and am I sabotaging my own life?

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

There are two impactful things that my Mom did for me. The most impactful thing she did was making an intentional decision to bring me into the world at fifteen years old knowing it would be the most difficult mission she ever accepted. She knew that she had to do so with little support or assistance and she would have to endure some extreme seasons to see me grow up.

The second was and still is that My Mom speaks life to me and over me, it does not matter how many times something goes astray she always says to pray about it and keep climbing.
