We were lucky to catch up with Vedant Kothari recently and have shared our conversation below.
Vedant, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
As someone deeply involved in the creative industry, whether in marketing or filmmaking, I’ve learned that creative burnout is inevitable. It’s a natural part of the process. The constant pressure to produce new and innovative work can lead to mental blocks where inspiration seems lost.
When I face a creative block, I find the best strategy is to take a break. Step away from your routine and try something new. For me, this means leaving my work behind for a while and spending time with people who support me. Relaxing and letting go of stress can help clear your mind.
Engaging in activities unrelated to your field, like traveling, reading, or picking up a new hobby, can provide fresh perspectives and ideas. These new experiences can reignite your creativity and often lead to breakthroughs when you least expect them. Being with friends and family offers emotional support, which is invaluable during these times.
Taking a break to recharge isn’t a sign of weakness but a necessary step to maintain long-term creativity and productivity. By embracing this approach, you can overcome creative blocks more effectively and return to your work with renewed energy and inspiration.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve always had a knack or rather a deep-seated personal interest for business and I’ve pursued a career in Filmmaking on the side.
This led to a rather awkward discovery for me, realizing that the way the industry not just for filmmakers but artists in general is placed in a manner not to incentivize financially enough to foster an environment where they could lead a comfortable life and foster their art, a craft they have spent decades perfecting.
This was when I came with up Fallacie.
“The Home of the World’s Most Creative Artists”. A company created by artists for artists and most importantly to support artists.
An apparel and media company where we bring in new artists and collaborate with them to help them financially and create products for everyone that will lead to awareness for both the brand and the artist.
We refer to this as our Creators Studio.
Our first artist collaboration was with an Up and coming to Wildlife Photographer, Luke Cooper Escobar who has given years of his life to preserve wildlife in the Amazonian Rainforests.
I believe this will be the future of how business is done, seeing how there is a rise of content creators and how social media comes to influence people.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, three key qualities and skills stand out as most impactful: networking, being open to criticism, and digital literacy. These have shaped my career and are essential for anyone starting in the creative industry.
Networking is crucial in today’s connected world. It opens doors to opportunities, collaborations, and valuable insights. When I started, I didn’t realize how powerful networking could be. Connecting with others in your field provides support, inspiration, and practical advice. Attend industry events, join professional groups, and reach out to people you admire. Building these relationships can lead to mentorships, partnerships, and new career prospects.
Embracing criticism is challenging but vital for growth. Constructive feedback is essential for improving skills. Early in my career, I struggled with receiving criticism, but I soon realized it was key to identifying strengths and weaknesses. Seeking feedback, staying objective, and making changes based on constructive criticism have helped me grow personally and professionally.
Digital literacy is a must in today’s tech-driven world. Understanding digital tools, platforms, and trends keeps you relevant and competitive. My experience has shown that those who are digitally literate adapt more easily to new technologies and innovations. Stay updated on digital trends, take online courses, and regularly practice with digital tools to build proficiency and confidence.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
As someone who has consistently embraced significant challenges in life, I have come to understand that not everything will unfold exactly as envisioned. Regardless of how meticulously you plan, there will always be elements beyond your control. In facing any challenge, whether big or small, it is crucial to step back, devise a course of action, and outline a strategic blueprint for tackling these challenges. This approach has proven to be one of the most effective strategies for navigating life’s complexities.
Everyone, regardless of their stage in life, will encounter a variety of challenges of differing magnitudes. The key differentiator between those who manage situations well and those who feel overwhelmed lies in the individual’s mindset. Maintaining a positive and proactive mindset is fundamental when dealing with any situation. Instead of being daunted by the difficulty of the challenge, focus on determining the best possible course of action to achieve the optimal outcome. While this does not guarantee success, it significantly enhances your ability to manage the situation effectively.
Concentrate on what is within your control and address those issues first, allowing other aspects to potentially fall into place. Life will inevitably present scenarios that are beyond your control. Worrying about these uncontrollable elements only adds to your stress and does not contribute to resolving the issue. By focusing on what you can control, you can reduce unnecessary stress and increase your chances of success.
In summary, not everything in life will go according to plan, and it’s essential to accept this imperfection. Embrace the unpredictability, focus on actionable steps, and maintain a resilient mindset. This approach has consistently worked well for me, and I believe it can be beneficial for others as well.
