We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Veena Venkersammy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Veena, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I believe my generosity comes from my parents. Growing up in a West Indian household, I’ve seen my parents constantly helping others. My mom, in particular, is always going out of her way to donate and support less fortunate people.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I found that dedication and putting in those extra hours made a significant difference. While it’s important to enjoy life and have fun, it’s equally crucial to focus on your goals. Investing time and effort into your brand or project, even if it means working late nights, is essential for growth.
Lastly, patience has been a critical factor. Developing something meaningful takes time and persistence. I’ve seen the benefits of putting in the work, even when results weren’t immediate. So, my advice is to stay committed and make the time for what truly matters. Balancing work and play is important, but make sure you’re dedicating enough energy to your goals and ambitions.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I believe my generosity is deeply rooted in the example set by my parents. Growing up in a West Indian household, I was surrounded by a culture of giving and compassion. My parents have always been incredibly selfless, regularly going out of their way to support others. My mom, in particular, has a remarkable way of helping those in need. Whether it’s making donations, offering assistance to those less fortunate, or simply lending a listening ear, she consistently demonstrates kindness and generosity. Her actions have not only provided tangible help to many but have also instilled in me the importance of giving back and supporting those around me. Their example has shaped my own approach to generosity, making it a core part of who I am.
