inding my purpose has been a profound journey of self-discovery and growth. It began with a deep dive into my interests and passions, which led me to explore various activities and careers. Each experience taught me something valuable about myself and what truly resonates with me. Along the way, I paid close attention to the moments that made me feel most fulfilled and motivated. These moments often involved connecting with others on a meaningful level.
Reflecting on my values and the impact I wanted to have on the world was a crucial part of this journey. I realized that my purpose lies in fostering genuine relationships and connections. I discovered that I have a natural ability to understand and empathize with others, and I find great joy in using these skills to make a positive difference in people’s lives.
This realization didn’t happen overnight. It was an ongoing process of trial and error, introspection, and growth. Each step, whether it was a success or a setback, brought me closer to understanding my true purpose. I continue to learn and evolve, but I now have a clearer sense of direction. Living a life aligned with my purpose in relationships and genuine connections brings me immense satisfaction and a sense of fulfillment that I hadn’t experienced before.

My journey is a testament to a blend of multifaceted expertise and unwavering dedication. Over the years, I have built a successful career in the nonprofit marketing sector, where I have honed my skills in strategic communication, fundraising, and community engagement. My entrepreneurial spirit has driven me to explore and innovate, leading to the creation of impactful initiatives and ventures.
The inception of V’s Charcuterie is a reflection of my love for culinary arts and my desire to bring people together over good food. My business is not just a testament to my creativity but also my ability to identify and fill a niche in the market with unique offerings. The success of V’s Charcuterie is a result of my hard work, innovation, and the ability to create a brand that resonates with a diverse clientele. My charcuterie boards are not just food arrangements; they are conversation starters, a centerpiece for social gatherings, and a symbol of my commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities and skills have been particularly impactful: creativity, resilience, and relationship building.
Creativity has been a driving force behind both my nonprofit marketing success and the unique offerings of V’s Charcuterie. The ability to think creatively has allowed me to stand out and provide memorable experiences for my clients. Creativity is essential for anyone looking to make a mark in their field. For those starting out, I recommend engaging in activities that stimulate your imagination, such as exploring different art forms, traveling, or brainstorming without constraints. Embrace curiosity and don’t be afraid to experiment.
Resilience has been crucial in navigating the challenges and setbacks that come with building a business and a career in nonprofit marketing. My resilience has helped me stay focused on my goals despite obstacles. To develop resilience, it’s important to maintain a positive mindset, learn from failures, and keep pushing forward. Surrounding yourself with supportive people and taking care of your mental and physical well-being are also key components of building resilience.
Relationship Building has been a cornerstone of my success. My passion for connecting with people has opened doors and created numerous opportunities. Building strong relationships with clients, partners, and the community has been instrumental in my journey. For those early in their journey, focus on developing your communication skills, being genuine, and showing appreciation for others. Networking events, social media, and community involvement are great ways to start building your network.
For those starting out, my advice is to stay curious, seek mentorship, and be patient. Always be willing to learn and adapt, as the more knowledge and skills you acquire, the better equipped you’ll be to handle various situations. Finding mentors who can provide guidance, share their experiences, and offer valuable insights can accelerate your growth. Lastly, success doesn’t happen overnight. Stay committed to your vision, be patient with the process, and celebrate small victories along the way.
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
In the journey of personal and professional development, a common dilemma is whether to go all in on our strengths or to invest effort in improving areas where we are not as strong. Both approaches have their merits, and the best path often depends on individual circumstances and goals.
Focusing on strengths involves honing the skills and qualities that come naturally to us. Maximizing Potential: By concentrating on our strengths, we can become exceptionally skilled in specific areas, making us go-to experts. This can lead to greater recognition and opportunities. Higher Satisfaction: Working on what we are good at and enjoy can lead to higher job satisfaction and motivation. When we engage in activities that align with our strengths, we are more likely to experience a sense of fulfillment and joy. Competitive Edge: Excelling in our strengths can set us apart from others, giving us a unique competitive advantage. In a crowded marketplace, being known for a particular strength can help us stand out and attract opportunities.
On the other hand, becoming well-rounded involves developing a broader skill set and improving areas where we are not as strong. Adaptability: Developing a broader skill set can make us more adaptable to different roles and situations, which is valuable in a rapidly changing job market. Holistic Growth: Improving weaker areas can lead to personal growth and a more balanced skill set, which can be beneficial in leadership roles. Leaders who are well-rounded are often better equipped to understand and manage diverse teams. Problem-Solving: A well-rounded individual can approach problems from multiple angles, leading to more innovative solutions. Having a diverse skill set allows us to draw from different areas of knowledge and experience when tackling challenges.
I believe a balanced approach is often the most effective. Focusing on our strengths can help us excel and stand out, but it’s also important to address critical weaknesses that could hinder our overall effectiveness. For instance, if you’re a brilliant marketer but struggle with public speaking, improving that skill can significantly enhance your ability to present ideas and lead teams.
Personal Story: In my own journey, I’ve found that leveraging my strengths in creativity and relationship building has been key to my success. However, I also recognized the importance of improving my technical skills to better understand and utilize digital marketing tools. By investing time in learning these tools, I became more effective in my role and could offer more comprehensive solutions to my clients.
My advice to others would be Identify Core Strengths: Focus on what you’re naturally good at and passionate about. These are the areas where you can achieve the most impact. Address Critical Weaknesses: Identify any weaknesses that could significantly impede your progress and work on improving them. Continuous Learning: Stay curious and open to learning new skills. The ability to adapt and grow is invaluable in any career.
Ultimately, the best approach depends on your personal goals and the demands of your field. Striking a balance between leveraging your strengths and improving key weaknesses can lead to a more fulfilling and successful career.
