Meet Vempre Terrell, Jr.

We were lucky to catch up with Vempre Terrell, Jr. recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Vempre , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

My connection with God is the cornerstone of the development of my confidence and the heightening of my self-esteem. Taking the time to individually study the Word of God, evaluate it in small groups, and listen to the presentation of sermons has brought about a spirit of confidence and an enhanced self-esteem within me. In addition to this, taking the time to engage in prayer has also developed my confidence and built my self-esteem. By increasing my knowledge of the Word of God and my connection with Him through prayer, becoming a confident person has served as the outcome. Instead of having periods of low self-esteem on days when life’s obstacles were very challenging for me, having high self-esteem has served as a key reason why I have been able to move beyond pessimistic points of life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Rise higher. These are two words that I speak within myself and verbally to others to bring about optimism. Points in life exist when it appears as if the spiritual weather brings about nothing but rain upon who you are and what you do. It may seem as if you take 2 steps forward only to take 5 steps back. Nevertheless, this is why you must have faith when you wake up in the morning, you must have faith when you move about the day, and you must have faith when you lie down at night. With faith, you can look at your circumstances and see that God has anointed the happenings in your life to occur. These are things that I love to help others see. The way that I love to do this is through writing, which is what motivated me to become an author. My recent book, “My Walk Through the Valley,” is a prime example of this. In this book, I help readers realize that difficult days of life are not meant to bring about a halt in a downward place, but rather to inspire a leap into higher places. Whether writing books, speeches, songs, or poetry, I make the effort to positively influence the lives of others.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Confidence. Resilience. Perseverance. These 3 words easily echo in my mind when I reflect upon the qualities that were most impactful in my journey. Numerous times in my life have existed when others have expressed to me that I am wasting my time using my writing skills to inspire others. Despite this, I took things a step further and brought my gift of motivational speaking to the stage. Whether others are listening to me in small groups or massive audiences, I do my best to have them leave me with an optimistic view of their circumstances. From my gifts as an author to my talents as a motivational speaker, I put myself forward to positively touch the lives of others. The best piece of advice that I have for others who are early in their journey is to set clear timeframes toward reaching their goals. Time is something that is often pushed aside, but it is likely the most powerful thing to keep in mind on the journey. When a person’s sees that things are off when it comes to time, this often helps to reset the proper stance toward reaching the goal.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to encourage my connection with God. From my early days of childhood, bringing about a strong relationship with God was something that my parents worked toward having me to do. From studying the Bible, setting aside periods of the day to pray, and taking time to write, my parents boosted my efforts to develop my trust in God. Many individuals hold pessimistic feelings inside themselves to the extent that it negatively impacts their mental health because of them suffering in silence. Communicating my inner feelings through writing has been a method of positive expression that has served to be self-encouraging, as well as inspiring to others. My first book, “The Eyes of Faith,” was a clear example of how expressing myself through writing allowed me to make my relationship with God serve as an inspiration to me, as well as to my readers. Whether I am writing books or delivering speeches, I know that my parents’ efforts set the stage for my success in these areas.
