Meet Vera Myers

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vera Myers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Vera, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
Funny you should ask this question because we deal with this a lot in the entertainment industry. Unfortunately a lot of people look at this industry as a competition so, as a producer of content, many of those I call “friends” have seemed to have turned on us in the last few years as we’ve become more successful. I say this because as my husband and I have produced more and more content we have gotten less and less support from others. It’s like everyone has this famine mentality where they think that your success somehow takes away from theirs when in all actuality there is plenty to go around for everyone. It’s a strange thing to deal with but we just keep our heads in the work and our eyes on the prize.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am the co-owner of a production company named Orphino Bros with my husband, actor, writer and director, Scott E Myers. Currently we produce a show called “Post & Ghost” on YouTube @postandghosttv. We do an episode a week and he and I do all of the work from writing, shooting and post production. We are the 2 leads in the show as well. It keeps us busy and engaged in something that we are extremely passionate about which is filmmaking and the art of storytelling. We also do photography and content for multiple brands and influencers in Los Angeles CA through our production company.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Attitude, Optimism and Perseverance are the three things that are most important in everyone’s journey. Whether it be in acting, producing content or writing you have to have a great attitude or no one will want to work with you. Optimism is a key factor as well because I think everyone knows that in this business you will get way more “No’s” then “Yes’s” so unless you stay positive then you will quit before you experience the miracle. Perseverance is self explanatory really. Like anything in life you have to stick to it no matter how hard it gets and you will always overcome the obstacles. It’s like Winston Churches said “If you’re going through hell then keep going!”

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Definitely my husband Scott. He is a perpetual optimist and has the work ethic of a Spartan. He is hands down the most talented individual I’ve ever met in my life and his energy and love for life and the craft of storytelling through film is electric and definitely contagious. He is always there to cheer me up and give me that extra push when I need it and the fact that I get to do what I love most with the one person I love most is a dream come true!
