Veronica, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I think every mother can absolutely relate … my children are my source of the upmost love & resilience

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hola everyone, my name is Veronica & I am Mexican American . Proud single mom of 3 phenomenal kids, who aren’t so little anymore . I’ve been a licensed esthetician for about 10 yrs now here in Las Vegas NV . Where I began my career & developed my knowledge and skills .

The first year and a half of my career I started working locally and quickly realized that I wanted to be my own boss and open up my own small business. To be completely candid I was betrayed by my best friend at the time andwrongly fired from one day to the next two weeks before Christmas, which was a huge shock for me.. I was recently divorced had just started my career and was barely able to pay my rent and feed my children. My oldest daughter was 16 at the time had been recently diagnosed with Lupus and that was extremely life-changing.. so it was an incredibly hard time to say the least. The best time to lose your job.

I didn’t even get a chance to tell my side of the story and was just told that I no longer had work and I knew why…. Literally wasn’t doing a lot of the building.. so what did I do next? I cried in my car for myself together and ran to see a friend who could offer me work that had recently opened up a restaurant. I got a job that same day as a food server . My friend loaned money to purchase Xmas gifts for my kids . Shortly after opened up my Suite with little to no clients . Busted my butt at both jobs seven days a week . I built up my clientele and never looked back. Now I have my suite which I love ! local clientele I’ve had from day one so about 8 yrs now . I couldn’t be happier that I got fired that day . I can honestly now say it was the absolute biggest blessing .

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The biggest qualities/skills i would say are adaptability , strong work ethic & positive attitude will always win! I would not have gotten through such trials without any of those three.

My best advice is hold onto whatever motivates you because you will come across moments that will test you to the core. Your love for those people for that vision will be the only thing pushing you through. Positivity is always gonna win and having a strong sense of integrity and passion will set you apart .

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

God first and I have a huge beautiful family that anytime I have fallen has been the first to pick me and my kids up. They are literally just a phone call away and I feel like that is one of the biggest gifts that my parents have given us. Is to instill that sense of unity . Without that I would not have been able to overcome .
