Meet Veronica Castillo

We were lucky to catch up with Veronica Castillo recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Veronica , so excited to have you with us today, particularly to get your insight on a topic that comes up constantly in the community – overcoming creativity blocks. Any thoughts you can share with us?
I spend time in nature. I think that people forget that nature has the best medicine for mind, body, and soul. We are a very wired people: streaming, gaming, and survival; and so we don’t spend as much time in nature as we should. For me, blocks mean I’m tired, uninspired, and/or I’m stressed. On days like this, I give it to nature. I go to the water, to the park, or simply right outside to put my feet in the grass or dirt. The trees display strength, the wind displays flow, the sun gives natural electricity, and the grass provides an energtic massage.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a Published Writer known as the Traveling Cannabis Writer. I was a nomadic writer on the road covering all things cannabis/ hemp/ and overall plant medicines and recently established my homebase at home in Florida after 5 years of nomad life.

My body of work can be found in multiple cannabis industry publications both digital and print where I provide cannabis industry and community insights from my 5 time journey around the country covering: cannabis cultivations and cultivators, cannabis dispensaries and testing labs, cannabis festivals and expo’s, cannabis extraction facilities and cannabis growing /gardening supply stores.

I’ve recently stepped into the world of vegan restaurant reviews with my: Where to Eat Vegan series that I run on the Traveling Vegan Cannabis Writer blog and highlight in other publications. The relaunch is coming soon!

My sponsors and clients have much success working with me, but readers can check out the recommendations section in my LinkedIn profile to see the many ways/reasons. My speciality is bringing to light the hidden gems, creating headlines that matter, telling the stories that need to be shared, and helping get many eyes from all over the country on your business/brand.

In the near future, readers and aspiring writers will be able to learn how I created my brand, how I got published in multiple magazines, and how my journeys around the country were supported by sponsorships. My course and book are coming soon! I want to help YOU become a traveling writer.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My passion, my determination, and my personal story with cannabis are the 3 things that launched me into writing, but my journey around the country has been heavily supported by community. The advice I have is from someone else, a quote that I heard: Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life. My love and passion for writing and travel goes back to childhood. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do, I just didn’t know what I’d write about. Cannabis gave me the reason, my purpose was to go out and share my healing story with the world.

Don’t think money, which I know is hard to do while life is inflating, but try it. Don’t think about money, location, language, nothing- just this: how do you want to change the world? I find that for many, that answer is where passion, determination, and purpose rest. When passion and determination lives in the soul, theres no need to develop/improve, what needs contstant development and improvement is the craft, for example, writing. I will lways be a student trying to be a better writer.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
One of the most impactful things my parents did was give me siblings. Second to that, they purchased the entire collection, A-Z, of the encyclopedia. Through those pages I traveled to places I never knew existed, learned things my mind had yet to explore, and fell in love with explaining and teaching through written word.
