Veronica, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
This is a bit difficult for me to answer as my self esteem was almost nonexistent. I’ve fought with my sensitive acne prone skin and dealt with dry breaking hair for many years thinking there would be no hope in sight. I basically had to psych myself up and convince myself that I could find a way to heal my skin and reverse the damage my hair suffered from using products that did not work for my hair. After researching and studying many different natural herbs from the earth I started to gain confidence that there was hope in sight for me. I eventually developed my first skin care product and after seeing my skin slowly start to improve my self esteem slowly started to build up. This was the beginning of what kept me going and start of my business Naturally Born.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I create and manufacture my own natural hair and skin care products. All Naturally Born products are free of all artificial, harsh and synthetic ingredients including sulfates, silicones and parabens. We also understand that some people may have sensitivities to fragrances so our products comes in both unscented (naturally scented per ingredients) and scented options. We are also a cruelty free business. All products are handcrafted in small batches and are made with high quality, premium and organic ingredients. We love what we do and care about every customer like they are family.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Creativity, Passion and Love for people. It’s perfectly ok to get inspiration from somewhere or someone but it’s more important to take that inspiration and create something new of your own. No one likes a copy and paste. People like to see a bit of the creator shine through your product or work.
You also need the passion to put your creations to work. Without true passion in what you do you will find it more difficult to create ideas of your own. This could lead to being unmotivated which is never a good thing. People would be able see this through your product or work. When you have true passion for something it will radiantly shine through.
You also need to have a love for people. Do not just create or try to sell something just because of a financial payout or some type of recognition. This can definitely affect your work in the worse possible way as the creativity aspect and the passion behind your work would be nonexistent as you then would just be thinking of your own possible reward. This in turn will affect the quality of your product and brand. I love people and have a passion to help alleviate and reverse any hair or skin aliments they may be going through. I’ve been through years of struggle with my own hair and skin and was able to resolve my own ailments naturally. I know how it feels and do not want anyone to have to go through what I’ve experienced. This is what motivates me to continue to improve my products, create new ones and gives me the passion and love to share them with all of you.
