We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Veronica Ibanez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Veronica below.
Veronica, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Honestly my purpose has always been my kids. I did not grow up with much, and my plan was to not have kids because i didn’t want to fail them or to not give them the life they deserve. So once i had my kids, i decided i wanted not to only continue my journey in the pastry world, but to also show them that not matter what life has in store, you can make a difference and find the purpose to keep going and to follow your dreams. Life hasn’t been easy but I am proud that my kids see all the work I’ve done and how proud they are of mommy because everything i do, i do it for them and for a better tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello everyone my name is Veronica Ibanez and I’m 33 years old. I was born in Argentina and raised in LA but i live in the City of Riverside Ca. I am the founder of PuffPuff Pastriess and also a stay-at-home mom and I would say a very talented pastry chef, dedicated to creating authentic Argentine pastries and desserts. As a proud mother of two handsome boys, i try to balances the joy of being mother with my culinary artistry, infusing creations with love and tradition. I have a keen eye for details and a deep appreciation for my cultural roots, i bring a touch of Argentina’s rich dessert heritage to everything i make, by using products straight from Argentina that wouldn’t be able to find here. My journey is a celebration of family, flavor, and the sweet art of baking. I want to reach everyone and share all my skills and bakes with everyone.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One of the skill that i have that to this day helps me a lot was all of the classes i been taking since middle school all up to college. That didn’t only help me a lot in learning but also on how to be creative and come up with my own flavors. My grandma tough me a lot, but i also come from a family where everyone cooks, bakes or grills and since a kid i always remember that, so i picked up everything as time went by and i try to use all of that information when im baking. If I have questions about food i call my mom, if i have question about pastries i know to call aunt or grandma. I like to say that I am not just proud but very good at what I do. Not only baking but also cooking. And theirs nothing I love more than to share that and to share my culture and the food I grew up with.
One advice i can give that i did myself is that, I did a lot of baking for free when i started, mainly because I wanted to get a lot of feedback on the products, flavors and aesthetic of the items. Every time i want to try something new i have a group of friends i can send the items to and a questionnaire for them to answer honestly and send back to me. So find yourself honest people that are willing to be part of this journey. But also just know not everyone will enjoy it and that’s ok. You’ll hear a lot of no thank you or your to pricy but just know what your worth but also what your work is worth.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Not everything is perfect. And baking will show you that. You can follow every step to perfection and sometimes things don’t work out. And that can be very overwhelming. In this type of situation i sometimes cry or i step back and try to see what i might of done wrong. Theirs times where I didn’t make any mistakes and that makes me even more overwhelmed specially when i have orders i need to finish for a clients, and having to start over and loosing products can be a push back. Theirs times where im overwhelmed just with life in general and my go to is to bake, ill make cookies, brownies, ice cream, medialunes and give them out to my neighbors or to my boyfriends coworkers. And that makes me feel better. If im mad i bake, if im frustrated i bake, when im happy, sad i bake so yes i pretty much live in my kitchen and i love that. We all have something we do when things just don’t work out how we plan, it’s not the end. We step back, look at the whole picture and go back in. Yes it will be frustrating but don’t give up, keep pushing because the reward at the end of all of it it’s priceless I promise.
