Meet Veronica Lane

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Veronica Lane. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Veronica, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
As a young Physical Therapist I always wished there was a way to work with people before they are injured and/or have surgery. I knew that prevention through education and wellness therapy would keep people from the injuries and surgeries. I also saw a need for Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy and again wellness and education are so important to prevent dysfunction. I knew there was a better way than insurance based Physical Therapy. I decided to get my NASM personal training certification so that I can help people before they are injured. This led me to start my own cash pay practice so that I can provide the highest quality of care to help my patients and clients achieve their goals. I want everyone to “Get well and stay well”. Now I have the freedom to help people achieve the highest quality of life. I provide Physical Therapy (orthopedic and pelvic floor), personal training, and bridge the gap between the two.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a Physical Therapist and Personal Trainer I am able to help people wherever they are in their journey. I can help them start a fitness routine. I can get them back to their workouts after an injury. I can address a pain or mobility issue before it interferes with their quality of life. As a pelvic floor physical therapist I love educating everyone on pelvic health! There is so much that we can do as far as our bowel and bladder habits that can help to prevent pelvic floor dysfunction. So many people live with pelvic floor symptoms and they have no idea that physical therapy can help. I’m on a mission to educate as many people as possible so that more people can live symptom free! I’m saving the world one pelvic floor at a time!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Trusting your gut is so important. I knew there was a better way to help people versus insurance based care. I kept looking for answers and possibilities. I was determined. Self confidence helped me especially in the beginning. So many people try to convince you that you are doing the wrong thing or it’s too much of a risk. Confidence in knowing you are doing the right thing is important.
And lastly determination was key. I wasn’t satisfied with the model of care that I was practicing in and was determined to find an answer. I knew there was a better way.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Many people are determined to use their health insurance and won’t consider quality of care. People will admit they have not had one on one care in insurance based PT clinics but they still want to use their insurance. Sometimes with co payments insurance based PT may cost more out of pocket than cash pay. I see patients one on one for a full hour. This will usually lead to less total number of visits and thus may be less total out of pocket than lots of visits with copayments. Also, I have the freedom to treat my patients as I feel is needed. Insurance companies restrict what they will and won’t pay for and again this doesn’t lead to high quality of care.
