We were lucky to catch up with Veronica Toolan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Veronica, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
It was by accident literally! I did all the things that society told me I needed to do. I got a degree, worked super hard corporate world, I was not happy just surviving and one day I got in a bad car accident and lost my mobility. Im an immigrant from Venezuela came to US (16 years ago) by myself and had no one here to help me. I had a group of friends that I considered family who helped me through it. I was paralyzed body and mind. It was a hard journey because I have always been into fitness and work. Slowly I found myself trapped in body I didn’t recognize. I was depressed and had no hope. Then one day I got sick of all the useless advice I was getting from doctors and Physical Therapists, so I decided to study how the body actually works! got rid of all the drugs that were numbing my brain and got to work. It was a long process but got myself back together like a puzzle. Then it hit me that I could help people. I got certified NASM, AFFA and read as many books and studied everything that crossed my path. Quit my job and and jumped into my fitness journey and also helping others. My purpose at the time was a very scary thought! But every success I had and every person I helped, reassured me of my purpose. Now I’ve been in business for 9 years!! small business! I work from home helping others and I have never been so fulfilled and happy.
My purpose is to help and show people that quality of life can happen with better choices and movement.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I”m a small business! I like to empower women of all ages to be the best version of themselves. I work from my home, 1 on 1sessions and online. I have been in business for 9 years. Survived the pandemic and keep working on helping as many people as I can. I love to be able to teach people that it doesn’t matter where you are in your life, you can always start your health journey at any stage and live a fulfilling life. I”m currently trying help children and my elder clients on the importance of movement for a healthy life. We can all live better lives if we learn how to listen to our bodies and follow our instincts.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learn from all your mistakes.
Everything that happens, has a learning curve to it. Even the hardest hardships have a lesson for us.
there’s nothing you can’t do if you put all your effort and mind to it
I always tell my clients that small changes will develop into bigger ones, that will eventually change your life. Consistency is key for everything in life!!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
It started with a difficult mother, a complicated life filled with stress, trauma, but I always found good people to surround myself with. Even in my darkest moments I found really good people that helped me. Kindness is a gift that we all should give. Kindness has brought me here, and along the way Ive made the most meaningful friendships and even found people I’m proud to call family!!! I have multiple moms and dads!!!
