VeronicaMarie, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Good question. My confidence and self esteem was deposited in me at an early age. My mother always told me i could be anything i wanted to be. She made sure that i knew how important i was and that i had a gift to give to the world.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a professional makeup artist here in the Roswell Georgia area. I mainly do Boudior & Wedding makeup. I’ve been doing makeup for over 13 years now. I’m originally from Baltimore Maryland. I started doing my friends makeup when we would go out. I feel like we were late bloomers because none of us wore makeup and we were in our late 20’s. I’ve always been an artist because i draw. So i figured makeup should be a piece of cake lol. I ended up doing a makeup course online and graduating with a certificate. Then i went to cosmetology school and graduated there as well. During that time i truly learned the fundamentals of makeup. My makeup really picked up around 2014. I started doing fashion shows photoshoots and weddings. But i still worked my 9 to 5. Once i moved to Georgia things changed for me and makeup became my full time job. I got here and hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since. I have a cosmetics line called PrettyBeat Cosmetics that will be relaunching in March.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most impactful qualities in my journey are resilience, the openness to continue to learn and compassion. First and foremost resilience. There will be so many No’s so many failures so many difficult clients but you gotta keep pushing. If this is something you really want you have to be resilient. Secondly you have to be open to continuing to learn. Things change often and you have to change with them. So continued education is a most. Last but not least is compassion. In this industry you will meet people from all walks of life. People who may have seen physical limitations and or different religious/spiritual beliefs. Whatever the differences may be we have to remember we are all human want to be treated with respect kindness and compassion.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Ouuu that’s a great question. In this business it’s easy to feel a little overwhelmed. Because things move at such quick pace. I think i felt the most overwhelmed when i was doing fashion shows. I used to be the only artist for 15/20 girls. When the feeling of being overwhelmed hit i would pray. It would be a quick silent prayer if i’m actually in the middle of a show. But if i’m home i would pray and put on some worship music. The word of God is very comforting to me. And music is the key to my soul. So add those things together and I’m good. Other things that help me are journaling taking a walk outside(if you can) and breathing exercises. Sometimes we under estimate how breathing exercises help tremendously. Also exercising is a really good way to eliminate stress and the feeling of being overwhelmed. I also have a podcast that focuses on women and their healing called S.H.E. Living Podcast. SHE stands for Sisters Healing & Evolving. That helps with feeling overwhelmed and stressed as well.
