Meet Victor Melchor

We were lucky to catch up with Victor Melchor recently and have shared our conversation below.

Victor, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

Honestly, avoiding burnout wasn’t easy. There were definitely times when I felt overwhelmed. But I focused on a few key things. First, I broke big tasks into smaller ones. This made everything feel way more manageable. I also scheduled short breaks throughout my day, even if it was just to stretch my legs or listen to a song. And finally, I leaned on my friends and family for support. Talking things through with them really helped

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m excited to bring my mobile wood-fired pizza business to more people throughout Ventura County! We’ll be setting up shop at local breweries, wineries, and even farmers markets soon. I can’t wait to tap into our creativity and host pizza parties for private events. It’s great that we’re doing more events and festivals this year – it’s a blast cooking right in front of everyone.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The best advice I can give to younger generations is to take a risk and go for it. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and try new things. Get as much feedback as you can, and find a mentor to guide you along the way. Keep learning and expanding your skills – that’s the fun part! I was lucky enough to have amazing chefs mentor me, and I soaked up everything they taught me. But I never stopped there. I’m always looking for new techniques and ideas, even from my friends and the people who support my business.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I’m always open to collaborating with other amazing chefs. If you’re passionate about cooking, especially with wood fire, let’s chat! I love the energy of the pop-up scene, and I think we could create something truly special together. I’d love to help younger chefs too – feel free to reach out, whether you’re just starting out or looking for your next big thing. You can find me on Instagram at Woodstock_farina.
