Meet Victor Ramos

We recently connected with Victor Ramos and have shared our conversation below.

Victor, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

I believe this came from the realization that it’s impossible to pour from an empty cup. It’s innate in some people to put others before themselves, but I’ve found that this leads to burning out, and a lack of direction for ones own personal journey. You become so focused on others that your goals and aspirations lose their necessary attention. Taking the time to be fully engulfed with your work is what I believe to be the best way you can give to others. They begin to see that the life you’re creating for yourself is coming from an internal place, and so therefore you become an example/blueprint for how they can precede with their own lives.

Short answer: meditation, ice baths, gym sessions, visualization, positive thinking/affirmations, empathy/understanding, and love

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a performer on the Las Vegas Strip! I currently Perform in a show called, “Iluminate”. It is a high energy light suit dance choreography show, that includes high intensity moves, Illusions, comedy, and fun for the whole family. We have all genres of music ranging from hip hop to jazz, along with a 90’s section, sprinkled with some Michael Jackson, and James Brown! I’ve also had the opportunity to perform for Cirque Du Soleil, Jabbawockeez, Missy Elliot, Rauw Alejandro, SYTYCD, World of Dance, and the Usher Super Bowl after party.

I’m incredibly grateful for where my career has taken me. I’ve gotten the opportunity to travel to different countries, experience different cultures, and meet many amazing people.

I find that the most special part of what I get to do is interact, and inspire anyone that I get to perform for. When you’re really giving it your all on stage, and receive a note from an audience member expressing their appreciation for bringing their child on stage, it really gets you connected to a passionate place in your heart. The people that come to the show leave with a beautiful memory that they will never forget, and that’s something I do my best to remember anytime I get on stage.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Consistency, adaptability, and never giving up.

Throughout my career and life in general, there are situations or experiences that may not be how i expected or desired them to go. Consistency is what makes you strong for when issues do arise. For myself, if I am performing and using my body everyday, I want to make sure I am physically capable of doing what I am asking of it. I believe that’s where being consistent at the gym has given me the opportunity to prolong my career. I also believe adaptability goes hand in hand. Most of the time when performing, there are multiple roles to fill. I’ve learned that the more well rounded I can be the more spots I can fill and therefore the work I get to do!

And lastly Never giving up. Whatever it is that you are wanting to accomplish or trying to achieve, you have to believe that you are the person to do it. And when things do get hard, you just have to see it as there is no other option but to keep moving forward. This is what I am meant to do and if it’s not working today it will work tomorrow. Not tomorrow, next week. Not next week, next month. Keep going until it does work!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My family for sure! Something that I am incredibly grateful for when enduring challenges is my family. Throughout anyone’s career they run into obstacles but I have been lucky enough to have a support system that has help guide me to the decisions I felt were best for my well being. And I say well being because in my family, our only goal is to see each other happy. No ulterior motives. Nothing in regards to money, or accolades. We recognize that happiness and love is the most important aspect in our lives. This has helped me recognize when an opportunity may not be fitting for me, or seeing if a relationship wasn’t helping me thrive in the direction I was looking to go. Having a good support system of people who only want to see you happy, is a system that you can trust. And happiness funnels the creative outlet. If you are happy with what you are doing, you are going to provide your best work and naturally develop the skills necessary to refine your specific niche.
