Meet Victoria and Danyell

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Victoria and Danyell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Victoria and Danyell, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Modern Arc Wellness’ purpose started as an idea many years ago with two friends wanting to work together to create an environment of support, understanding, and healing for our clients. This started becoming more realistic over the years and feeling ready to take that next step. We both shared experiences throughout the years of burnout, hitting that glass ceiling, and powerlessness in our professional growth. That was a tipping point for us to decide to take this leap. Founding Modern Arc Wellness provided us an opportunity to create an environment that helped meet our passions for women while also helping others heal and grow. Both professionally with clients and other clinicians alike, we wanted to be a place where others could flourish individually even when we were no longer a part of their journey. Modern Arc is a place to help women thrive but it started with us giving ourself the permission to do that same!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Modern Arc Wellness is a women owned business by two best friends, Danyell and Victoria! Although our original stories started out a part, we came together during our undergraduate program at Northwest Missouri State University. We continued on to a graduate program here in Kansas City and quickly became acquainted with the different specialty areas of practice and work environments. As I began my work in private practice working with individuals and couples, Victoria began her work with littles, teens and families. Through each of our experiences, we recognized an ongoing theme for the lack of support and healing the women and more specifically, birthing parents had in these roles and relationships. The reality of branching out on our own to offer services to a population we are passionate about officially happened in 2023. This was a time of transition in many ways for us from starting our own business, feeling free and in control of our future, and Victoria starting a family of her own. Since then we have been able to continue to build and connect with a community that also services women in the perinatal community. We also extend these services to their partners and family.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

We have found that building relationships, trust in yourself, patience were key parts to our journey. Building relationships and seeking out knowledge from professionals alike, provided us an opportunity to build our practice at a steady pace while also learning and working through the challenges as they arose. With trust we learned not only to believe in ourselves but each other and in our mission. This community that we are passionate about truly has a lack of resources and sense of community that we aim to provide and be a part of. Which brings us to patience. Our practice wasn’t build in a day and we continue to build relationships within the community, getting our name out there, and growing our services.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! Our dream for MAW is to grow into a collaborate holistic practice for women in our community. Offering services that collectively supports women through transitions of pregnancy and beyond. We have had the opportunity to work with a massage therapy this last year. We hope to continue grow our in-house services for our clients. We would love to hear from people who are interested in collaborating or joining our collective!
