Meet Victoria Dash

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Victoria Dash a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Victoria, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I originally worked in the dental field, but everything changed during my third pregnancy. I hired a doula, Xio, to support me through labor and delivery. It turned out to be a life-changing decision—quite literally. During labor, I experienced severe complications and nearly lost my life. Xio immediately stepped in, advocating for me and ensuring the doctors were by my side when I needed them most.

After the dust settled and I held my baby in my arms, I was overwhelmed—not just with shock, but with gratitude. It was a profound awakening. During my maternity leave, I reflected on what truly mattered to me, and I realized that dental was no longer my calling. Instead, I felt drawn to elective sonography, a field that would allow me to help moms embrace the joy of pregnancy and bond with their babies before birth. That’s how *I SEE BABY* was born.

Over the past two years, I’ve had the honor of serving over 400 moms, building a network of incredible pre- and postnatal providers—including doulas, photographers, midwives, baby boutiques, therapists, and lactation consultants. Every day, as I witness moms connecting with their babies and sharing their joy, I am reminded that this is exactly where I am meant to be. This is my purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At *I SEE BABY*, we create special ultrasound experiences that let parents bond with their baby before birth. Unlike medical ultrasounds, ours are all about the joy of seeing your little one’s face, watching them wiggle around, and just soaking in the magic of pregnancy. Our *Peek-a-Boo Classic* and *3D Peek-a-Boo* packages give families a chance to connect with their baby in a really personal way, and it’s been amazing to share that experience with so many moms.

What makes *I SEE BABY* special is the love and excitement that fills our studio every day. Pregnancy can be an emotional ride, and we want to make it even more special by giving parents a sneak peek at the little life growing inside them. Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing over 400 moms light up when they see their baby’s face, and along the way, I’ve built a community of awesome pre- and postnatal providers—doulas, midwives, photographers, lactation consultants, and more.

As for what’s new, we’ve got some exciting things coming! We’re adding more personalized experiences like coming to your home for comfort, fun add-ons like heartbeat jewelry, and special event days for families. Plus, we’re teaming up with local businesses to bring even more resources and support to expecting parents. Stay tuned for what’s next!

At the end of the day, *I SEE BABY* is all about celebrating life, motherhood, and the incredible journey of pregnancy. I love what I do, and I’m so grateful to be a part of so many families’ stories!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are:

1. Being a go-getter– I’ve never been one to sit back and wait for things to happen. When I set my mind to something, I go all in. Whether it was shifting careers, building *I SEE BABY* from the ground up, or creating a supportive space for moms, I’ve always believed that passion means nothing without action.

2. Being a loving soul– This isn’t just a business to me—it’s personal. My own pregnancy journey, the challenges I faced, and the love I have for this work shape everything I do. I truly care about the moms who walk through my doors, and that love translates into a special experience for every family I meet.

3. Empathy and personal experience – Having gone through my own life-threatening labor experience, I understand the emotions, fears, and excitement that come with pregnancy. I don’t just offer ultrasounds; I offer reassurance, celebration, and connection. That personal understanding makes me a perfect vessel for this work.

Advice for Those Starting Their Journey

If you’re just getting started, here’s what I’d say:

– Be relentless in your pursuit. If you have a vision, go after it. You don’t need to have everything figured out—just take the first step, and the rest will follow. You’ll learn along the way, but only if you’re willing to put yourself out there.

– Lead with love. Whether it’s business, parenting, or anything in between, the energy you put into something matters. If you truly care about what you’re doing and the people you’re serving, success will naturally follow.

– Use your story. Your personal experiences are your superpower. No one else has walked your exact path, and that perspective is valuable. Whether you’re starting a business, building a career, or just finding your purpose, embrace what makes you *you*—that’s where the magic happens.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I’ve learned to lean into my emotions rather than run from them. Therapy has helped me a ton—it’s taught me the importance of sitting with my feelings instead of suppressing them. It’s okay to feel everything, even the tough emotions, because that’s how you process and move forward.

I also make sure to prioritize things that “spark joy” in my life. In my free time, I love to work out, sew, and read—these activities give me an outlet to clear my mind and recharge. Moving my body helps release stress, sewing taps into my creativity, and reading allows me to escape for a little while.

My advice? Give yourself permission to feel. Overwhelm is natural, but don’t let it consume you. Find the things that bring you peace, whether that’s therapy, journaling, movement, or creative hobbies. And most importantly, remember that it’s okay to step back and take care of yourself—you can’t pour from an empty cup.
