We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victoria Faith. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victoria below.
Victoria, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding my purpose wasn’t a linear path; it was a winding road of exploration and self-discovery. Early in my career, I gained expertise across various industries – airlines, bridal consulting, retail, corporate environments, and even the service sector. Each experience, while seemingly disparate, provided invaluable lessons and insights. However, I always sensed a much deeper calling.
I reached a point where I realized that true fulfillment wasn’t about climbing a corporate ladder or achieving external success. It was about aligning my work with my core values and passions. I knew I wanted to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, to create a positive impact on a human level. This revelation prompted me to take a step back, quiet the noise, and delve deep within myself, asking: “What truly ignites you? What mark do you want to make?”
Once I embraced the process of going within to rediscover what brings me joy and fulfillment, endless opportunities began to unfold. I’ve learned that the true reward lies in witnessing the positive changes individuals make when they feel supported and empowered. Now, I can confidently say that I’m walking in my purpose, doing work that not only challenges and excites me but also allows me to make a difference in the world.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the founder and organization leader of Black Girls Need Sun, a local nonprofit dedicated to inspiring Black girls to reconnect with nature, each other, and their own light. What makes Black Girls Need Sun special is its mission to uplift Black girls of ALL ages, encouraging them to lead more sun-filled lives.
We’re excited to be expanding our programming to new communities and always welcome collaborations with fellow changemakers. We will soon be launching new merch in collaboration with some incredible artists, which will give people a chance to support Black art and endorse the Black Girls Need Sun cause, while spreading the message of love and light wherever they go.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three key qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness. My advice would be to:
1. Roll with the setbacks and know when to pivot. Understand that your plan is not always THE plan.
2. Stay curious and flexible. Instead of fearing change, lean into it. Every experience—even the scary ones—holds a valuable lesson.
3. Take time to sit with self. Journal, meditate, or simply stop and ponder life’s queries – get to know YOU better. The more you understand yourself, the more you align with what is meant for you.
Above all, trust the process and give yourself permission to explore. Sometimes the unexpected detours are what lead you to your true calling.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! We are always looking to partner and collaborate, as we believe it is the only way for us to fulfill our mission. Without community partnership, there is no Black Girls Need Sun.
We are in constant search of individuals to join us as spaceholders, board members, volunteers, back-end support, local artists, community leaders, mental health advocates, instructors, and nature enthusiasts. Overall, we are seeking Black girls who are passionate about making the world a brighter place.
