We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victoria Ferreira. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victoria below.
Victoria, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I am the youngest of four, but I never really had the mentality of a youngest child. I loved school, worked hard to make good grades, I have studied music since I was six years old and have always pushed myself to not give up on anything even if it gets hard and to run toward my dreams. Sure, I have had many disappointments and set backs but those things are what have helped me to become even more focused on my goals, because they became a challenge rather than a hindrance. As my Dad has told me, “you do land on your feet!” I am thankful my parents always encouraged me in my endeavors and were there for me during hard times.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have been involved in many diverse experiences throughout my life and I am so thankful for those because it has really shaped who I am and who I am becoming. I grew up in a home where the Bible was read every day and I am the most grateful for this, because when we place our identity in Jesus Christ, everything else falls into place, and I wanted my steps to be led by the Lord. None of it is my own doing. Every experience, whether it was a success or a failure has led me to where I am now.
I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and when I was almost eleven years old my parents bought a farm in Virginia. I remember bouncing around in the car as we drove through property after property looking with my parents for the place they would put down new roots. I had a bit of hard time once it came time for us to drive away. My aunts, uncles and cousins were there to wave us off. But once we rolled onto the farm, I never looked back and fully committed to the farm life…taking care of chickens, cows, miniature donkeys and my horses. I loved working on the farm. I love our old antebellum home built in 1853. I love that we hosted people regularly and I learned the art of hospitality. The farm is the place where I have grown the most spiritually, musically, mentally and I started my health journey after college. I lost weight and little did I know it but that time began a whole new learning experience for me in the health and wellness field even though I started really becoming more interested later on. The farm is where I started so many new things and even going home for me now is where I still get new inspiration for things and goals in my life.
I have been playing music for almost as long as I can remember, I progressed pretty far in piano, but switched to violin when I was ten years old, thanks to my Mom. Though at the time I was not so sure, but she encouraged me and always has. She would find the best teachers for me, drive me to my lessons and encouraged me to practice. I have worked with a variety of instructors from classical to jazz, worship, fiddle and improvisation. I have studied with countless musicians such as Ann Marie Calhoun, LA based violinist for Hans Zimmer, Peter Sirotin (classical), Christian Howes (jazz) and have worked with Grammy award winner Mark O’Connor and have recorded for albums. I have played music in church and on worship teams for two decades now. I met my husband at the Point Church in Charlottesville, VA. I wish I had time to tell the whole story but we will save that for another time! He and I are continually collaborating in music together. We both played our instruments in our wedding and led worship. He plays the piano and sings. My daughter is developing such a love for violin and music in general as well.
I went to school for music performance and also completed teacher training for the Mark O’Connor Method. I have been teaching violin since I was a senior in college. Music is a huge passion and always will be.
After I got married, my husband and I started designing our home together. He has the European influence since he was raised in the northern region of Parma, Italy. My Mom loves old world design and has passed some pieces on to me. I grew up surrounded by antique clocks, grand pianos, a Bible from the 1500s, and kerosene lamps. I would say my style is very much a mix of modern and traditional and when you walk into our home you will find some old mixed in with the new.
I started a design page called Design Detailed on instagram and while it is completely a hobby and nothing I ever thought I would do, I have poured so many hours into this and it is becoming my main page on instagram, though I currently have a total of three. One for violin lessons, health and wellness and design. My page design page focuses on hospitality tips, recipes and creating a home you love and want “to come home to.”
My design page has been such a fun adventure for me and I will be creating more and more in 2025 as I continue making our house a home. I share recipes, design ideas and organization tips. Please come say hello and follow along @designdetailed
I am hoping to create a series of videos to help young aspiring musicians learn the skills of improvisation and how to play with a church worship team as well as teaching parts they can play. It can be a difficult instrument to incorporate into a band setting and I am planning on sharing what I have learned and help others since it is so needed. I had to learn by trial and error. I am also looking to create a course for beginner violinists and make this available online! My violin page is @victoriasviolinstudio.
Since after college I really wanted to lose weight, so I set out on a journey of eliminating gluten, dairy and sugar. I lost about twenty pounds, and started working out regularly. Barre has been the best workout and one that I noticed the biggest difference in how the shape of my body was transformed. I still do barre to this day. It targets every single muscle group in your body. It not only makes you strong physically but also mentally.
On my wellness page, I will be sharing a variety of health and wellness tips and will be helping new moms as they embark on the greatest journey of their life, becoming a Mom. It is filled with so much newness and I hope I can help encourage them in many ways to help them in the postpartum phase – spiritually, mentally and physically. All three pieces are key to feel well balanced and to be the best wife and mom they can be. You can follow my new wellness page @victoriaferreirawellness
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Knowledge of the Bible – it is the greatest book you can read and truly the road map for life.
Perseverance – it always pays off, always.
Generosity – giving is a lost art. It is so important. Our world is hurting and kindness goes a long way.
The greatest advice I could give would be to set up systems in your life that help you reach your goals.
The book ‘Atomic Habits’ is a great place to start. For example, if you want peace, joy and to find the path the Lord has for you I encourage you to read your Bible every day and journal. I started doing this a decade ago and I can’t tell you what a blessing it has been in my life.
Let’s say you want to get good at a certain skill…ask yourself what are things you need to put in place for that to happen? Start your morning differently? Journal your thoughts? Have a set schedule?
The systems and habits help you get there, otherwise you have this incredible goal on the horizon but no road map on how to get there.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would absolutely love to connect with more musicians and collaborate – whether that be performing, recording etc. You can find me @victoriasviolinstudio
