Meet Victoria Johnson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Victoria Johnson . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Victoria below.

Hi Victoria , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I look at me and I look at them. No offense to anyone but if you are in the same position you were ten years ago, then who are you to judge me? I work hard to get what I want and anyone who isn’t ahead of me is behind me and I’m not thinking about them in the least bit. Except for when it comes to fueling my fire/passion. I love me a hater keep watching as I rise up 😅.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi I’m Victoria, single, black female. I’m an artist of many things! When I say many, the list goes on! I started out drawing and painting/crafting, then I got introduced to photography, then to graphic design and so much more.

I was raised in a place/space for little to no opportunities and to say that I’ve made it out and made something of myself is such a blessing! Recently since moving here, I’ve became a social media influencer.

If you knew me before moving to Texas you’d think it to be so funny. I grew in a small town and I didn’t have cable so to meet people and they say I know you is so wild. That’s what’s new to me. I’m trying to navigate this new adventure in my life while still trying to figure out life itself lol. So far it’s going well I’d say! I’ve been living in Dallas for two years. I came for two days and have been living here ever since 😅. The lord has made a way and I just keep following down his trail!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Honestly I have just been winging it all these years so I can’t say I’ve picked up on any skills or qualities 😂.What I’ve learned has all been trial and error. What I can say to others is to never doubt yourself. Don’t let anyone dim your shine. I’ve been doing some of everything as long as I can remember and what I do know is that it’s best to develop thick skin, don’t take business personal!

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth for me would have to be wanting to get out of bed everyday. I few years past I lost my little sister and that completely shook my world! For some time I didn’t want to do anything!!!!

During that time I wasn’t creating and it was hard for me. I express myself through my work and having that cloud of grief over my head was really creating a huge block for me.

Not wanting to eat or get out of need took a huge tole on me. I wasn’t going to events or producing work. However, even though I am still very sad I am somewhat able to go back out in public, I am now able to create again.

I asked the lord to show a way out so that I could get better and each and every day that I’ve been back to myself I try to put my all into it for her. She was my younger sister but she was always very supportive of everything I did or everything I made. Because of loosing her I am not the same person I was before. I can see it a lot in my style of crafts too. I’m more determined to win and fight!
