We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Victoria Mack a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from my Grandmother, Mother and Uncle Robert, the compassion and love they have for others is truly amazing, from childhood I have watched them give their last, meaning money and food to family members and friends.
My grandmother and mother taught me to give without expecting anything back, so when I go out and feed the homeless I do it with a cheerful heart.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello readers! My name is Victoria Mack and I made the decision in 2011 to take a stand and do something about homelessness within the Chicagoland and United States areas rather than just talk about doing something.
Most of my life I have helped someone with life issues whether it was a family member, friend or a stranger.
I’ve been involved in many community works over the years, I started out in my pre-teenage years at the age of 12 doing mission work with my childhood church Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church helping out every 4th Saturday to feed the homeless with my family.
I have devoted many hours to help out at different events benefiting the homeless around the Chicagoland area.
I’m currently working on a new project to spread the word even more though my organization about homelessness, I can’t give all the details away just yet but it’s definitely going to amazing!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities and skill are quite simple for me, the first one is to know when to stop talking and just listen, don’t talk over others, don’t try to finish others sentences, I absolutely dislike when someone who has no knowledge or skill in the area I work in and tries to finish my sentences, it’s so annoying, you may think you have all the answers but you truly don’t, just simply listening can be life changing.
The second is to just be your true authentic self, don’t try and be no one else, here’s why, what works for that person may not work for you, I have watched people attempt to do something I have done and they fail each time, simply because it wasn’t made for them to do, I myself have tried different creative projects that others have done and it didn’t go my way because it wasn’t made for me to do, when you find your true calling in life and be yourself, that’s when everything will come together and go your way.
The third is to keep God first in all that you do which should be number one of course.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am most definitely interested in collaborating on projects dealing with homelessness, you can email me at Victorious1HeartandSoul@gmail.com or reach me on instagram @Victorious1HeartandSoul
