Meet Victoria Pelletier

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Victoria Pelletier. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Victoria, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience is deeply rooted in my personal history. Overcoming significant adversity and trauma in my youth has shaped a strong internal resilience DNA within me. It’s the driving force that fuels my determination and grit. Additionally, I’ve learned the importance of what I refer to as “healthy resilience” which includes goal setting, self-reflection and strategic and intentional thoughts, actions and behaviours.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I wear many hats professionally, but at the core, I’m dedicated to transforming businesses and inspiring leaders. I’m the author of *Influence Unleashed: Forging a Lasting Legacy Through Personal Branding*, where I share insights on how personal branding can drive career success and create a lasting impact. My upcoming book, *The Power of Whole Human Leadership*, dives deep into the importance of authenticity, vulnerability, and empathy in leadership and how these elements foster a thriving organizational culture.

Beyond writing, I’m a professional public speaker. Most recently, I had the honour of being the opening speaker at TEDx Miami, and I’m excited to pursue more speaking engagements this year to share my experiences and insights with a broader audience.

What excites me most about my work is the ability to influence positive change. Whether it’s turning around distressed businesses or guiding executives to be more effective leaders, seeing the tangible results of my efforts is incredibly fulfilling. I firmly believe in a whole human approach to leadership, and I’m committed to spreading this message through my books, speaking engagements, and consulting work.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story. I’m always eager to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations who are passionate about leadership and making a positive impact.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey, three key qualities have been particularly impactful: resilience, authenticity, and whole human leadership combined with strategic vision and action.

Resilience is the backbone of my story. Overcoming significant adversity has ingrained in me a tenacity and strength that drives me forward. For those starting out, embrace challenges as opportunities to grow. Build a strong support system, practice self-care, and never underestimate the power of bouncing back stronger.

Authenticity, especially in personal branding, has been crucial. Being true to myself and my values has allowed me to forge genuine connections and build a lasting legacy. My advice is to be unapologetically yourself. Understand your unique strengths, embrace your vulnerabilities, and let your true self shine through in all your interactions. Authenticity builds trust and credibility, which are invaluable in any career.

Whole human leadership, combined with strategic vision and action, has been transformative. This approach emphasizes the importance of empathy, transparency, and radical candor, while also keeping a clear, strategic focus on long-term goals. To develop this, strive to understand and value the perspectives of others, think several steps ahead, and take decisive actions that align with your vision. Surround yourself with mentors and advisors who can offer diverse insights and challenge your thinking.

For those at the beginning of their careers, focus on cultivating these qualities through experiences, relationships, and continuous learning. Embrace every opportunity to grow, stay true to yourself, and lead with both heart and strategy. Remember, your journey is uniquely yours, and every step is a valuable lesson in shaping your path forward.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my mother did for me was teaching me the value of self-reflection and self-awareness. From a young age, she encouraged me to look inward, understand my emotions, and evaluate my actions. This practice has been critical in developing the skills that have shaped my journey: resilience, authenticity, and whole human leadership combined with strategic vision and action.

Self-reflection has helped me build resilience by allowing me to learn from my experiences and grow stronger from setbacks. It has fostered authenticity by enabling me to understand and embrace my true self, which is the cornerstone of a powerful personal brand. And in leadership, self-awareness has been invaluable in understanding the needs and perspectives of others, ensuring that my actions are both empathetic and strategically sound.

My mother’s guidance in cultivating these qualities has been a foundational aspect of my success, and I believe that anyone can benefit from developing a strong practice of self-reflection and self-awareness.
