We recently connected with Victoria Schultz and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Victoria with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My father 100%! He has been working since he was 14 years old. He was on active duty Navy for 30 years and then worked at a power plant for another 15 years before be finally retired. He has always taught me that to make it in life you have to work very hard, be kind, always do the right thing, and treat everyone with respect and kindness. I have worked hard since I was 16 years old and continue to this day. When I set my mind to something I will absolutely follow through with it. That is why when I started my massage therapy business I knew I would make this work no matter how hard it would be, and trust me it’s extremely hard to open and keep a business going no matter how successful it is. But I truly love what I do and I love going to work everyday. I get to help people feel better physically and mentally. That truly feeds my soul.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have been a licensed massage therapist in Florida for 3 years now. I work with the VA to provide medical massage to our veterans at no cost them. I have been doing this for over a year now and seeing the progress of these men and women has been so amazing to me. I love getting get messages the next day after a veteran has seen me for massage, and they tell me “they had the best sleep the night before”. I truly like the fact I can give these hero’s that have served our country some pain relief and to truly help with their mental health. Most of my veterans come to me suffering from PTSD and have a very hard time trusting people. So to know I can put them at ease and truly make them feel comfortable in way they probably haven’t been in awhile is so amazing to me, I really o get emotional sometimes knowing I am playing a small part in their recovery.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My qualities that have helped to make my business successful is my work ethic, resilience, and definitely being a good problem solver. As a veteran/business owner we are taught to identify problems, analyze them, and then find effective solutions to solve those problems. I have always had a strong work ethic that is something my father taught me from a young age, possessing a tremendous sense of responsibility and discipline. I think you need those qualities along with resilience to open and make a business successful. There will always be setbacks and adversity but with motivation, self determination, and hard work you can absolutely can make your business successful and profitable!
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is so someone who comes into my space with an open mind. I can’t guarantee healing in the first session but I can guarantee if that client works with me in their treatment plan and is truly invested in their health and wellbeing as I am. Then I can get you to where you can live without constant or even minimal pain. I love clients who want to know everything I am doing and how I can help them and what can they do at home to help themselves.
