We recently connected with Vincent Richmond and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Vincent with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic has been greatly developed throughout my lifelong time of wrestling. The physical and mental resilience it brings going from practice and cutting weight to actually competing was a great test of fortitude. I knew every time I had to be on my A game every moment and I take that with me with each task I’m going forward with. Even though wrestling is an inherently individual sport there is still a team behind you each step of the way and that is also a lesson I took with my work. Knowing that there are people that are there to support and can be along side when things can get tough help to keep pushing on and keep pursuing your goals and dreams.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an actor with experience in theatre, film, commercials, and voice-over. I also model with more of my work going towards products and lifestyle. What excites me the most about my career is being able to bring different stories and characters to life and seeing how the viewers and audiences can resonate with them. It’s always such a special feeling to me because of the work and efforts I put in my characters and the bond I can share with people that are taken in the art and even my castmates, directors, and everyone involved in the production. I’m having quite a few ads coming across and theatre productions currently working on so please do keep an eye on my platforms for all the updates.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the three most impactful traits that helped me on my journey are being personable, resilient, and optimistic. These will definitely be help traits to learn and apply in the acting field because there are a lot of opportunities to network and build lasting connections and that’s where being personable and optimistic come into play. The resiliency comes into play with the auditioning and waiting game to hear from casting and the constant “yes and no”. These are great to develop and improve by initiating casual conversation throughout and getting to know others and also getting comfortable with yourself and understanding what drew you to the field and why you want to pursue it.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
In my career path the biggest obstacle is getting caught up in my head after I audition and the angst I get from wanting to hear about the casting process immediately. One thing that very much does help me overcome that obstacle is my adoption of an “it is what it is” attitude. I use that so much that I know I put my best foot forward after I finished auditioning and either I’m going to get cast or if I don’t it’s because of circumstances that are out of my control. It took me a bit to get this mindset fully squared away because I initially would think if I’m not getting cast in everything I audition for then there’s something wrong with me. This new mindset helped me see that I’m still doing well with my career because I’m still showing my toolset and you never know who is going to see it as well.
