Meet VINCI XO

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful VINCI XO a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi VINCI, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I like to think that it was curated over time with new experiences. Being an openly bisexual man in the space that I occupy isn’t always easy, but it’s not about defying what everyone thinks about you. It’s about being totally true to yourself. So I just throw two fingers up and say “F*** ‘EM!”. It’s so easy to get lost in the sauce and be drowned by peoples opinions and the value that others place upon you, but my girlfriend once told me; “You are who you think you are and nobody determines your value but you.” That was very powerful and inspirational to me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As an artist, my job is to take my experiences and allow people to listen to it from my point of view. I think that’s where my passion comes from, because my art is me, there is no separation. My sexuality, my lust for life, pain, love, etc. all exist within my art. It was really important to me that people could hear that on the new album. I wanted people to know me and feel something. I wanted to give people something they can relate to. Boys Don’t Cry” comes out June 20th. Go give it a listen.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Authenticity, self-reliance, and self-awareness. It sounds cliche, but just be yourself, be who you are and create art that you enjoy. F*** everything else. Know yourself, your worth, and your limits and you’ll be ok.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

My mom has always supported me since day one. She encouraged me to keep recording and she listens to everything I drop and I love that. She supported me when I came out, I honestly couldn’t ask for much more. Her love and support taught me to focus on the people that matter. There’s always going to be someone who wants to talk s***, but the people that matter will love and support you regardless.
