Meet Vinnie Langdon III

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vinnie Langdon III a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Vinnie, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

There is a lot of negativity being a creative in this field of Film/TV. Many people will say “oh that’s too much work” or “I wouldn’t do it for as little as you get paid, I wouldn’t even attempt half the things you’ve done unless I got paid millions.” However, I keep on doing this for ME. Because it makes my life happy. It makes me a stronger person. It improves me in other fields not just generally speaking: film or TV productions.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

After twenty+ish years (lol) of creating short films, a few attempts on working on feature length independent films, now I am at the stage in my career where I’m focused on making 2026’s goal for me to be able to produce a feature length psychological thriller film. I have a small but effective team who is encouraging me and building me up, believing in the project and myself’s ability to do this. Life is short and I’m ready to give my all to this project.

The film is called ‘After The Beep’ – it’s a psychological thriller that stars myself and co-star, Alina Staicu. (Miss Elegant Universe 2018) The film revolves around a newlywed couple who relocates to Northeast Pennsylvania to start new but with past trauma, it haunts them and brings them trepidation. Just like in real life, sometimes starting over can be a painful, heartache and long process but the film is important because it touches on real life relatable topics such as relationships, abuse within relationships, mental health which are all important topics in today’s society.

The film will be a big overtaking but I am eager and excited to give this one my all for future generations to come to enjoy. This film however will not be easy unless we get the proper funding for this – which will probably be more difficult than actual production itself.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Resistance – Having thick skin? Absolutely. Overall in this field you can get eaten up, swallowed and spit out figuratively speaking by many words. Recently I had someone tell me after 20+ years of making films my career was not going anywhere. Harsh yes? True? Not quite. Each project I do, I do it with my heart and each is a stride forward. Not quite leaps in this business.

Determination – To complete a project is what starts the determination. Each step there might be fun steps along the way and more difficult and less fun steps. But looking at the end goal in mind is what gives me the determination to keep going.

Faith – Without faith in many aspects of my life, I wouldn’t be who I am. Having faith and believing in a bigger picture, God & Jesus gives me focus and helps with the other two skills above I mentioned. But faith is my foundation for anything in my life.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Support. From the early days in my career to even recently just providing transportation or just lending an ear to talk or showing up to a film premiere of mine is meaningful. As our parents age, it is even more special because we learn how important and valuable they are.
