We were lucky to catch up with Vinny Gomez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Vinny , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
As far as where I get my resilience from, I would have to say that comes from my internal drive to succeed at basically anything that I set my mind to
I wanna make sure that when I tell my loved ones that I’m going to do something , I wanna give it every last ounce in me to accomplish what I said I’m going to do. I do this so my friends, my family, and all my loved ones can be proud of my accomplishments.
I want to say I live a goal oriented life ever since my first job. I made it a point to not be complacent and push to go to the next level and the next level and the next level.
I think I’ve put that aspect into my everyday life, including my acting career. When I first started acting three and a half years ago, I was told I would never become a sag member because it’s almost impossible to do it at this age. Eight months later after me starting my acting career, I was eligible to become a sag member. Here I am three and a half years later a SAG member and I have some great work on my resume. I will continue to push my self until my name becomes a household name.
I told my daughter when I first started this that she would be accompanying me to my first red carpet event and my goal is to keep that promise to her

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
So I’ve been in retail for the last 33 years of my life I started as a Floor Cleaner, then became a floor manager, then became an assistant manager, and was given my own store 17 years ago. I’ve been in the RIVERDALE community serving the community on a daily basis and happy to deal with customers on a daily basis. I’m the type of manager that treats all my employee with respect and courtesy employees should be treated with . I’m a manager that gets involved in the community with fundraisers donations anything where we can win over the customer with personalization is my goal. When you come into my store, there’s a good chance that I’m gonna know you my first name, not everyone of course but I know tons of people by first name that shop in the store. What special about me is that I’m an outgoing person and what people person I’m someone that’s always willing to help people out when they are in. Need whether it’s with a job whether it’s with assistance financially or just with an ear to listen to.
I have always been a type that had my eye on the better things for my life
I believe I applied this when it came to a acting having started working as background on movie sets, film sets, or commercials I would see the principles on set and I would say that that’s going to be me one day
Little did I know that one day would come sooner than I thought. I was booked for my first major commercial seven months after I started acting. I was in a dreamworld when I got to Commercial where was flown to Florida first class put up in a five star hotel, and star in a Boars head Commercial. Once I got a taste of that aspect of the business, I want to continue and set my goals on becoming a great actor and a great principal going forward .

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back at the beginning, I think the fact that I was such a great people person and would put my ear to the ground and get information from all the different ideas as to how I can become a success in this in the stream is what brought me to the point that I am at now?
I also believe my eagerness to succeed and not let my failures bring me down are one of the great advantages I have in this industry.
The thick skin that I have grown since the beginning is for sure something that has been so impactful on my journey . This is an industry where you must be ready for the long haul and once your opportunity comes, you must see the opportunity and take advantage of it. No holds back.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
At this point in my life, if I knew, I only had a decade left of my life I would make sure that I would leave my footprint in the industry that I wanted to be a success !
I would do everything in my power to have my name be a household name for someday to be able to look back and say they wanna be like Vinny .
I would make sure the time that I had left would be making sure my family would be proud of me and all my success
