Meet Vintage V

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Vintage V a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Vintage , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from self determination. Having a desire to achieve my goal. I believe that the highest form of self love that you can give to yourself is keeping your word on what you would like to accomplish. That’s is what keeps me going.

There’s also an element that I always tell myself. No one is going to do it for me if I don’t do it for myself. This life belongs to you and those goals that you have in mind are achievable but only when you put fourth the effort.

With everything that I do, I do it with passion, determination and grace. It is all apart of the journey.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a singer/songwriter. My love of music I feel was a gift that I came into this lifetime with. My father was the catalyst who helped me to recognize my gift and encouraged me to explore it more and cultivate it.

Having such a unique voice forced me to develop my own style and continue to recreate my style with every song that I created. Being an artist has taught me so much about not allowing myself to be in a box when it comes to my art and creativity. Every song will not be written the same, every vocal will not be the same, my harmonies will be different, and my vocal arrangements will change with every song and that is what I describe as perfect eclecticism. I enjoy the entire creative process. That’s where the beauty of the creation lies.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful on my journey are:

1. Making sure that I am creating from a space that loves the art of music. Creating from a space that loves the beauty of the process and how it will translate to my supporters and how the song will make them feel. Many times people get caught up in wanting to get a deal or go viral and the loose sight of why this gift of artistry is most important to them at their core.

2. My drive and self determination.

3. Resting and allowing myself to reset. If I feel like I’m not giving my all, the music will reflect that and I never want to put out music that is half assed lol. I want it to feel amazing and reach people where they most need it.

Advice I would give to those who are early in their journey is to remain true to who you are at your core. Take musical risks and never be afraid to experiment. There is where you will find the magic!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I would have to say they life has been the most helpful in overcoming challenges in life. It has taught me death and transformation of the things that no longer served me. My attitude towards things, how I respond and work through conflict of any kind. Life is our greatest teacher.

I think I have a natural disposition towards being driven and determined. I truly March to the best of my own drum. I always tell my friends “ I may bend but I never break”. Meaning it’s ok to feel overwhelmed, afraid, unsure… all of those things and more, however it is never ok to give up. You can move on to something else if it’s not serving you but never give up.

I give myself 24 hours at the max to allow something to bother me and after that I’m on to resolution. Nothing keeps me down! These are all qualities that I feel allow me to be the best version of myself.
