We were lucky to catch up with Viridescent recently and have shared our conversation below.
Viridescent, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
Being a creative is one of the most rewarding and challenging career paths to go down. There are always going to be things to overcome and hurdles to jump over despite having an exceptional support system. We persist despite the haters because there’s no other choice. All of us make the decision every day to carry on. We know in our hearts that making and sharing our music, connecting with fans, giving everything we have is the only option.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi. We’re Viridescent, your new favorite Dallas-based Metal band. Comprised of Mira Divina, Alexander Van Templin, Dylan Ory, and Jake Stevens.
Viridescent started as two best friends making music as a side quest. It ultimately blossomed into the beautiful and electrifying powerhouse it is today when Mira and Dylan joined them.
We like to describe our sound as being forged in metal, veiled in haze — blooming where brutality meets beauty, where distortion collides with dream.
We exsist to empathize, inspire, and share these moments with you.
If you haven’t see us before, come to a show, stream a song, and we guarantee you won’t miss another one.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on our road so far, the most important qualities that were most impactful on our journey are communication, hard work, and hopefulness. In any situation when you’re working with a team, it’s most important to be able to communicate honestly and freely. That’s a hard one we’ve had to learn. Hard work goes into any and everything. Being committed and putting your heart and soul into every detail is what I think sets us apart from others in our scene. Hopefulness is what’s constantly driving us forward. If you don’t have hope, what do you have? Almost all of these things are learned with time and trusting the people around you. We are always learning and growing with eachother.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
We all have different strengths and weaknesses and it’s important to go all in on what you’re best at. At the same time, becoming more well rounded and improving is equally as important. For the music scene especially, it’s a huge game of throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. Sometimes we feel completely on top of it and others like we’re falling behind. Each of us play an integral role in the success or demise of our band. We play to our strengths and show support when it’s needed to achieve our goals. It’s very much a learning experience.
