Meet Viviana Sarmiento

We were lucky to catch up with Viviana Sarmiento recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Viviana, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

Throughout the years I’ve created a morning routine that helps me feel productive and powerful. It begins with my weight and cardio workouts. At the end of it I feel energized and ready for the day.
The discipline and commitment I have to take care of my body and mind gives me the certainty that I can do whatever I want, like running my own company and navigate through this journey.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I used to love the flavor of Nutella, but no the ingredients, so I started playing around in the kitchen trying to re-create a product that would taste like that but with ingredients that are actually good for you. Also I was a granola freak, my husband would bring me a bunch of granolas when he was traveling so we could find the perfect one, but we never could. That’s why I started making our own granola without seed oils, sugar or fillers and full of nutrients and flavor. And that’s how The Kind Dessert was born. Now we have 12 nut butter flavors and the same granola which is our best seller.
Our slogan is Be KIND to yourself and spread it! Because when you feed your body with whole foods, clean ingredients and lots of love it shows and you can share that energy with everybody around you.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

In my experience, I’d say the qualities that have had the most impact in my journey would be:
1. Have certainty: Create something that you know will benefit people, something that if you weren’t making, you’d definitely buy.
2. Patience & persistence: Patience to know that good things take some time, but you’ll persist because you know that’s what you want to do.
3. Be a team member: Learn to work with someone who is going to have your back and work side by side with you. In my case, that someone, is my husband.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

We made a big leap this year. We went from doing 1 farmers market a week, to 4 farmers markets per week. That of course increased everything: demand, supplies, energy and time but we are also gaining so much experience, and it is giving us the possibility to expand our lovely community (clients), as well as brand recognition.
We are so excited and will keep on working with passion and joy as always.
