Meet Vivie Myrick

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Vivie Myrick . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Vivie below.

Hi Vivie , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Growing up I faced a lot of bullying and judgment from my peers. I grew up in a small town with very little creativity around me. I was so closely judged growing up and quickly learned to not care what others think of me. In the film industry we are so closely judged on our work, appearance, things we can’t control. Although I am usually resilient to negative things the media or people say about me I still struggle with it. It’s hard being a young women in this industry and not letting everything go to your head. I have to remember to be exactly who I am. The people that love me for who I am and the art I create will always be in my life. You can only control the quality of your art and the hard work you put in, everything else is out of your hands.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have always had a creative bone in my body. Growing up I did a lot of musical theatre and performed on stage as much as I could. I loved being around creative people and knew very young I wanted to do this the rest of my life. I started doing background work in shows in Memphis and doing lots of short films. I wrote music as well and did American Idol in 2019! Music really started for me in 2019 then came covid.. which stopped a lot of opportunities for me. During that time I spent a lot of time studying, creating and auditioning. Then in 2022 I booked George And Tammy. The show starred Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon. It was the most amazing experience of my life. Working with such big actors and gaining so much experience. The time in Wilmington filming the show changed my life in the best way! I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most important thing that I have learned is to be kind. Though it may seem cheesy. Growing up with people constantly being mean to me and making me feel like an outsider has made me understand how valuable words can be. It is not only important for day to day life but also work. People want to work with someone who is nice and positive. I’ve also learned to let it go. When your auditioning for 5 shows at once it’s hard to not criticize your abilities. This is something I still am working on now. It’s something not only actors struggle with but everyone does. But you have to remember all you can do is be yourself, do your best and forget the rest.
