Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Wara Pornkulwat. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Wara, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I went for a run if I feel that I’m stuck. I believe that our body is led by our hormone system, and if we keep this system intact to stay enthusiastic. Also, when you go for a run in a different place, you could observe the life along the way.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Wara Pornkulwat, and I’m a commercial cinematographer from Thailand. I’m studying cinematography at the American Film Institute Conservatory to further my narrative storytelling skills.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Commitment, honesty, and consistency have been the three guiding qualities in my journey. When I make a decision, I don’t look for the middle ground; I choose one direction and fully commit to it. Whether the choice turns out to be good or bad doesn’t matter as much as the fact that I made it and learned from it. Being honest with myself allows me to recognize those lessons and grow from my mistakes. And above all, consistency is what brings progress. Improvement doesn’t happen overnight, but with steady effort, it always comes in time.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Taking a break is essential when you start to feel overwhelmed. No matter how close the deadline is, giving yourself a moment to breathe, calm down, and stay hydrated can help reset your mind and body. For me, answers never come from a place of stress or doubt; they appear when I step back and look at the bigger picture, something that’s impossible to do when I’m caught up in the chaos.
