Meet Warith EL-Amin Jumu’ah

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Warith EL-Amin Jumu’ah a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Warith EL-Amin, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Displaying a great deal of generosity was inherited from my parents….definitely from my parents. Throughout my life, my parents have always been community/family oriented, as well as giving people. Due to our Islamic beliefs, connecting with the community and furthering our education became major priorities. I remember growing up and watching my parents host annual summer cookouts at our home with an open invitation to both family and community members. I always thought the reason for the cookouts was to have great food and listen to great music; however, it was always a deeper meaning for my family. As I became older, I learned the purpose of the annual cookouts was to display a great deal of unity within our community. My parents always worked to bring joy to others through strong support and positive experiences. Supporting others and building strong foundations became our family’s legacy.

My parent’s philosophy about leaving a legacy impacted me greatly. They always conveyed the importance of creating a story for the world to remember you by. Observing my parent’s generosity in creating a safe space for others and providing positive experiences always amazed me. Their belief system and compassion for others helped shape my educational views and instilled in me the importance of helping to raise up the community. Without their examples of generosity and guidance, the Passionate Rebel Foundation wouldn’t be what it is today.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Maintaining strong faith, remembering why I started my journey, and providing a need to the world is what aided me in staying the course. We need people to follow their passion. Following our passion and creating opportunities for others is how we transition collectively. Remembering why I started Passionate Rebel always reinvigorated my spirit at various points of the journey. Without maintaining that thought at the forefront of everything, Passionate Rebel would’ve declined immensely.

Those starting out on their journey, must maintain their “why”. Your “why” matters at the beginning and ending of the journey, Also, allow your “Passion to Stimulate Your Hustle”!

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Making sure I utilize my time wisely to execute projects and plans for the brand within a specific time frame. Passionate Rebel is a independent brand. Every accolade we’ve received and success point reached were achieved off our own hard work and dedication. Time moves fast and I’m working hard to make sure the brand is in a great space, and working to secure things I want personally and for my family. Just making sure I prioritize things is the main challenge. I have interns who tap in with the brand to aid in prioritizing, as well as family members who work extremely hard in lifting the brand into great spaces as well.
