Meet Wayne Butler

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wayne Butler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wayne below.

Wayne , thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
My whole life I always cared what people thought about me and I wanted to be liked by everyone. I realized that this is not important and not everyone is going to like you. Because of me being so nice and naive I was also burned many times in friendship and in business. The best thing I ever did was stop caring about what others think about me and what I felt I needed to prove to them. I started focusing on proving things to myself and doing things that made me happy. Haters, nay-sayers, trolls, all have their own issues and our just trying to make themselves feel better. I know that it’s not really my content or me as a creator that they’re attacking. I find it’s best to not feed them and just ignore them and move on. If you are posting content that makes you happy are helping others smile or come back from a bad day, that’s all that matters. I focus on the positive and block all the negative in social media and in life. I have too much good things going on in my life to focus on the bad!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a content creator and social media comedian. I have a dad joke series I do with my 19 year old daughter Camdyn Butler called ” Hey Cam.” We’ve been featured many times globally and have always been a comedy duo. I love getting messages from people daily about how I made their day, or turned a bad day around for them by watching my content. There is enough bad in the world and it’s nice to know that you may not be able to help everyone, but there are some people that needed a smile or laugh that day. I do a family podcast with my family called Famous-ish where we talk about our lives and current events. It’s a comedy podcast, but it also gives you a close look at the Butler family. My wife is not on camera and mostly behind the scenes but she plays a big part in the Hey Cam series and all of our social media. If you like dad jokes, and clean (mostly) family comedy, give our pages a try.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Again, I will tell you how important it is to not care what others think about you or your content. It doesn’t matter how many likes or followers you get. If you enjoy what you’re doing and are happy with what you’re putting out to the world, the rest will follow. Just be yourself and have fun! It’s important to stay consistent, I’m not saying you need to post everyday like myself but stick with a routine. If you post once a week, be sure to keep posting once a week. If you post twice a day, keep doing it.. Your followers like to know what to expect. It’s also good if you post at the same time every time you do post. Don’t ghost and post, interact with your followers. This is how you will gain a community that want to help support you and continue to be there while you grow!

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Just meeting me or watching my videos one thing you may not see. I am legally deaf , I wear a hearing aid but without it it’s almost impossible to communicate and make videos or have conversations. I have learned to live with my disability and even incorporate it in my videos sometimes. I was deaf in my right ear from 2 years old, but the left one didn’t start giving out until about 5 years ago. It was difficult to almost start over and retrain myself to learn how to communicate again. I never gave up and still continue to learn and grow as I go.
