Meet Wendell Brown

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wendell Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wendell below.

Wendell , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is a great word…because it points to a never quit attitude that is forged in toughness. Everyone has difficulty, difficulty in our life can make us better or worse. The quicker we acknowledge that difficulties are associated with being human the quicker we can make the determination to grow out of our struggles rather than succumb to them. I love to say that the only difference between bitter and better is “I”. Our struggles in life define us, it is our choice if we let them define the good in our life or if we let those struggles define the bad in our lives. When we point to our struggles more than our opportunities we need a mind shift and a realignment that trouble is a part of life, and we can choose to overcome them. How we overcome them is even more important and for me the choice to ask God for help is never my last resort it is always my first response. Asking God for wisdom can help not only understand our situation but also improve it!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
A former drug addict who found hope for my life when I found faith in Christ! We started a not for profit called Tragedy Into Triumph which helps people all across the nation find hope and help for their life by hearing a story of overcoming from someone who has lived through tragedies and come out ahead on the other side.

Additionally, I have written a book called Living in Triumph that can be purchased everywhere or on our website: tragedyintotriumph.com. There are steps in the book that provide real actionable items for every person to discover how they can overcome with God’s help.

I am the founder of Tragedy Into Triumph and I get the joy of helping people all the time find hope and help for their lives. We have a simulcast event on May 4-5 that you can register for free to hear real life relevant stories of transformation. I am speaking at that event and so is Jim Tressel, National Championship Coach from Ohio State Football, as well as Auntie Anne Beiler, the founder Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. Each will share a real life story of transformation from tragedy into triumph. You can register on our website: tragedyintotriumph.com or attend live and in person for free if you live in Ohio. All the information is there.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Belief
If you don’t believe in something greater than yourself, you have nothing to aspire to.
Believing in God helps us level set that there is something better than who I am, what I see and what I know.
That inspires me to always look for better, and look for ways to improve.

2. Commitment
You are here on this earth for a purpose. What is your purpose? How do you determine it? Your life on this earth can make the world a better place….how are you committed to leaving your world better than you found it

3. Gratefulness
I have a mentor who told me that there is nothing God hates more than a spoiled brat. When we focus on what we have instead of what we lack we find that there is much to look forward to!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are always looking for like minded individuals and looking for ways to collaborate together. If you have a great story of transformation, if you believe that there is hope for every person on earth, if you want to see the world better than you found it, we would love to hear from you.
