Meet Wendy Moyer

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Wendy Moyer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Wendy , so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

5 years ago, I was completely out of balance. I had three jobs, 2 kids and a husband. I was running myself from activity to activity, job to job, without being present in my life. Covid happened and slowing down allowed me to take an inventory of my life. I started to hike every day. It was during these hikes that my thoughts became clear. I began connecting with myself. I activated my internal healing power. I quit 2 of the jobs and focused on my private practice and supporting others on their healing journey.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist at Therapy with Intention in Scottsdale, Arizona. My passion is walking alongside women in midlife and up and supporting them in their journey back home to themselves. I love to incorporate hiking, Emdr and self compassion. I have walked my own journey to have a sacred relationship with myself and find joy in supporting women in finding the love they look for outside themselves within.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Ability and desire to connect with pain, both mine and the women I work with

Accepting all parts of myself, even the ones that might be throwing a tantrum

Being on my own healing journey since I lost my father suddenly, I was 15, he was 38

My advice is to never underestimate your ability to heal. You may have survival strategies that you needed when you were younger, that aren’t serving you anymore. They may be getting in the way of you becoming who you are meant to be. My journey back home to me has been the most difficult, rewarding and sacred one of my life. Reach out to me or another professional who can assist you in accessing your own healing power.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is a woman who wishes to cultivate a sacred relationship with herself. She may have wounds that need love and healing. She may be in a place of transition or just wanting more for herself. She may be ready for a letting go of parts of her that aren’t serving her, a rebirth of who she is meant to be.
