Meet Wendy muzzy

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Wendy Muzzy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Wendy, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.

My generosity is deeply rooted in my upbringing and life experiences. Growing up on a horse farm, I learned how seemingly small actions can have a significant impact on people’s lives. My family was always ready to help anyone who wanted to have horses in their life, and this spirit of giving was instilled in me from a young age. Keeping those experiences in mind, I started a pony party business at 18. I learned how fulfilling it is to bring happiness to others, especially children, and the fulfillment that comes from making a positive impact.

However, it was the challenges I faced later in life that truly shaped my generosity. Specifically, in 2020, I was faced with an unimaginable loss that profoundly changed me. In the aftermath, I received an outpouring of support and kindness from family, friends, and even strangers. Their kindness helped me through the darkest times, and I realized how powerful seemingly small actions can have a tremendous impact.

When it comes down to it, my generosity comes from a place of deep empathy and a desire to create a ripple effect of positive change. I believe that every person we help can pass it on to the next person, creating meaningful change.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am the founder of Wendy Muzzy Coaching; I am a money mindset expert that teaches women how to transform their relationship with money so they can create, build, and sustain wealth.

What I find most exciting and special about my work is witnessing the profound transformations in my clients. Seeing women move from a place of scarcity and fear to one of confidence and proactive abundance is incredibly rewarding. My approach is unique because I combine my background in academia and research with a deep understanding of the emotional and psychological aspects of money. This allows me to create a holistic coaching experience that addresses both the practical and emotional components of financial well-being.

At the core of my coaching are the principles of acceptance and non-judgment. I help women understand their emotions around money, uncover their money stories, and develop actionable plans to achieve their financial goals. By shifting their mindset, they can see the limitless possibilities and opportunities available to them.

I’m also excited to share some upcoming developments. This fall, I am launching a money mindset course designed to help women transform their relationship with money. In 2025, I will be introducing a comprehensive money management course. With that program, I will be starting a community group called Money Mavens (joinmoneymavens.com), which will provide ongoing support and a network of like-minded women committed to achieving financial abundance.

Through these initiatives, I aim to serve as many women as possible and help them navigate their financial journeys with confidence and clarity. My goal is to create a ripple effect of positive change, empowering women to pass on their newfound knowledge and support to others.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Reflecting on my journey, the three most impactful qualities and skills have been resilience, empathy, and problem solving.

1. Resilience: Life has its share of challenges, and resilience has been crucial in helping me navigate through them. I have learned the importance of bouncing back from adversity and finding strength in the face of hardship. For those early in their journey, I recommend embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Cultivate resilience by staying flexible, maintaining a positive outlook, and learning from every experience.

2. Empathy: Understanding and connecting with others on a deep emotional level has been vital in my coaching practice. I’ve found that truly listening and being present for others can create powerful connections. To develop empathy, actively listen to others, practice seeing things from different perspectives, and approach every interaction with an open heart and mind. Building strong, empathetic relationships will enrich both your personal and professional life.

3. Problem Solving: My background in research has given me a strong foundation in problem solving. Applying the scientific method to my business has helped me build something I love, which supports a lifestyle that is meaningful to me. For those starting their journey, I advise honing your analytical skills as much as you can. Break down any challenges into manageable parts, test different solutions, and learn from the outcomes. This structured approach can lead to more effective and sustainable results.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I find it incredibly grounding to step away and spend some time in nature. That may be taking a hike, sitting by the water’s edge, or working in my garden. There’s something deeply soothing about being outdoors, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of the natural world. This allows me to connect with the earth and focus on something simple and tangible, which helps clear my mind and reduce my stress.

My advice for anyone feeling overwhelmed is to find your own grounding activity. It could be moving your body, meditating, or any other activity that helps you reconnect with yourself and the present moment. It’s essential to step away from the chaos and give yourself space to breathe and recharge. By doing so, you can return to your tasks with a clearer mind and a calmer heart.
