We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wendy Uribe. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wendy below.
Wendy, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Through God-given grace, I have found the path to developing confidence and self-esteem. At a crucial point in my life, I experienced feelings of being lost, isolated, unattractive, and lacking purpose. Seeking solace, I began attending church, where a profound realization struck me during one of the services. I learned that I should never diminish my worth to appease others, for God has created each of us uniquely and with purpose. Embracing this truth, I discovered the strength to rise above self-doubt, embracing my individuality, and finding newfound confidence in knowing that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. With God’s grace, I have come to appreciate myself and understand that true self-esteem comes from recognizing the divine value placed upon me.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Amidst the pandemic, I found myself at a crossroads with my t-shirt business, realizing that it didn’t bring the peace and fulfillment I sought. With this realization, I made the brave decision to close it down. Currently, my focus lies in creating a platform while indulging in designing pieces that truly resonate with me. Balancing my creative pursuits alongside a full-time job, I’ve embarked on a journey of passion and creativity. One highlight includes crafting a unique veil for a friend, ingeniously blending sentimental pieces from her mother’s veil with her love for Mickey Mouse, creating a captivating hidden Mickey veil that enchanted her guests. Another achievement was designing the top for my captivating Little Mermaid photoshoot. As I continue to explore and experiment, I’m excited to craft more one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect my distinctive vision.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Throughout my journey, three profound qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge have been truly impactful. The first is my unwavering reliance on God’s strength, which has guided me through challenges and triumphs. Second, I’ve learned to identify the things that bring me genuine rest and peace, recognizing that these gifts originate from God. This invaluable lesson, imparted by my spiritual father, has led me to question anything that doesn’t align with that peace. Lastly, the wisdom of prioritizing God in all endeavors resonates deeply with me. This principle has proven its worth by fostering prosperity in every aspect of life. Another pivotal insight I’ve gained is the significance of knowledge; people perish due to a lack of it. This revelation struck me when I discovered my church, Revelation Church in Simi Valley, which has catalyzed transformative change in my life.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m enthusiastically seeking collaboration opportunities within the fashion industry and editorial photoshoots. My aim is to inspire women of my age and beyond who might believe it’s too late to explore modeling due to their height, appearance, or other perceived limitations. As a proud Latina who embraces every aspect of myself, I find empowerment in being short and defying conventional beauty standards. I’m a living testament to the fact that age is just a number, and by God’s grace, I continue to look and feel amazing. I relish the freedom to wear whatever I choose while confidently pursuing a path as an editorial model. With unwavering faith, I believe that all things are possible through God.
