Meet Wenonah Recio

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wenonah Recio. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wenonah below.

Hi Wenonah, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My father always worked very hard. Growing up in an expensive valley meant having to work long hours to pay the bills. I began working as young as I could around 14.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have been a floral designer since I was 15 years old and have worked all throughout the Roaring Fork Valley designing flowers for celebrities, high end homes, hotels, weddings and events. I owned a retail floral shop for 10 years before transitioning to a home-based wedding, event florist to be more present for my children.
2022 and 2023 were extremely successful in growing our wedding business!
We have teamed up with a lot of great vendor teams to expand our business and I have been lucky enough to find incredible designers so that we can take on more events!
Our passion is creating beautiful memorable florals and settings for people’s most precious moments in life!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Customer service is a huge aspect in our business!! Listening to a customers vision and bringing g it to life. Floral design is a skill that grows over time. Working with other designers gets your ideas flowing. Being able to critic yourself as a designer is critical to improving and always being open to new design techniques and trends.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We love collaborating with all kinds of different vendors, connecting with wedding planners, venues, other stylists, designers, bakers, DJs, etc. it’s all important for building a successful wedding/event business. We would love to expand to work in other areas and are open to traveling as destination florists.
