Meet Whitney Allen

We recently connected with Whitney Allen and have shared our conversation below.

Whitney, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
For me, finding my purpose had everything to do with first getting very clear on who I am and was created to be. I spent a lot of time in prayer as well as reflecting on the things I’m naturally good at as well as passionate about. To be honest, I spent much time seeking God about what it is He has called me to do in this life and how I was meant to make an impact. I know now more than ever that my purpose is to help women break free from fear so that they can BOLDLY build and launch the things God has called them to create.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Although some refer to me as a business owner, Lady Whitney or even Prophetess Allen, I love simply being a wife, mommy and child of God. I believe that everything I do, whether it’s coaching, taking on branding/marketing projects, or hosting conferences really just comes back to being a child of God who wants to serve and do everything to the glory of God.

That is one of the reasons I started the business, Awakenings Unlimited, LLC! I wanted to help equip individuals in business or ministry to prosper confidently in their purpose. That is why I offer Brand Photography, Website Design, 1:1 Coaching, Social Media Strategy, Email Marketing and more! I believe in the importance of doing everything in faith, integrity and excellence, so I feel it is my duty to use my gifts and skills to help others do the same!

I can honestly say starting and building my business has completely changed my life for the better! I want women and men to experience that life transformation that comes with being bold and obedient in building their God-given visions, even when they don’t know all the answers.

At the moment, my favorite services to offer are Brand Photography and my VIP Free to Flow Intensive. The Brand Photography sessions are more than just a photoshoot to me; they are an opportunity to help men and women truly see themselves in the best light, increase their confidence and provide them with high quality images that best represent their brands. I also enjoy the VIP Free to Flow Intensives because that is where I get to work 1:1 with women who are ready to get clear on their purpose, as well as uncover and overcome any fears they may have so that they can implement the strategies designed for them to successfully LAUNCH those God-given ideas!

Currently, I am preparing for my 3rd annual women’s conference, the ReAwaken Conference happening on October 14th. This year’s theme is “Disrupt the Room” and I can’t wait to see the transformation that is going to take place in these women and their businesses! In addition, I’m looking forward to recording more episodes of my podcast, the Women Carrying Worth podcast.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe consistency, authenticity and faith have been some of the most impactful qualities in my journey. Many people say what they’re going to do in their lives, business(es) etc, but not many start, and even fewer continue once it gets challenging. Consistency requires a strong level of stamina, resilience and willingness to keep pushing, no matter what comes your way. I can honestly say I may not have always been the best at everything, but I’ve always remained consistent. Consistency has helped me develop my photography skills, design skills and so much more that I didn’t go to school for. Consistency has helped me sell even when I wasn’t actively selling. Consistency has gotten me booked for speaking engagements, secured new clients by word of mouth, helped me build real relationships and sold out my conference. It may sound cliche, but consistency really is key!

In the same way, my authenticity has definitely been an asset to me because I have learned how to lean in to my uniqueness. I am most powerful when I am being exactly who I was created to be and I’ve seen how me choosing to be all of myself has encouraged others to do the same! I am multi-faceted, multi-gifted and unapologetic for that! My prayer is that you who is reading this will embrace the same thing about yourself!

Lastly, my faith is without a doubt one of the most crucial parts of journey. Without Jesus, I don’t know where I’d be. Entrepreneurship can be very challenging, especially when you didn’t grow up with seeing a lot of it around you. There’s a lot of being the “first,” not knowing and opportunities for doubt or even imposter syndrome that kicks in. You can face a lot of rejection or even lack of support from those you thought would support most. There can be “dry seasons” financially or creative ruts that make you want to quit everything and stop dreaming so big. However, my faith has kept me through every dry season, every obstacle, every “no,” every fear and every uncertainty. I find assurance, guidance and provision in God so faith will always be my (not so) secret sauce!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, first I BREATHE! I take a good shower, wash my hair and more than likely clean something in my home. I’ve realized that cleaning helps me declutter my mind and it may seem silly but that shower time where it’s just me and God is always so cleansing!

After that, I’ve more than likely had a good cry in there somewhere, and I am not ashamed to say that! Some of us explode on others or end up in a full blown anxiety attack because of the emotions and thoughts we haven’t dealt with it. We have to let it out and acknowledge what we’re truly experiencing in order to move past it.

So with that being said, journaling, praying and listening to worship music always helps me move past the feeling of overwhelm. In addition, digging deeper and taking the time to reflect on what boundaries were not in place or not enforced has been super helpful. I’ve realized that for me, majority of the time overwhelm hits, it’s because I needed better boundaries. Over-commiting to things/people, working during hours that I’m off the clock and not scheduling in enough self-care time have all been ways that I did not respect my own boundaries, which ultimately led in some way to overwhelm. I truly encourage everyone to get real with themselves on what boundaries they need to establish and enforce in their lives so that they’re not constantly overwhelmed.
