Meet Whitney Denise

We recently connected with Whitney Denise and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Whitney with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

“My strong work ethic is deeply rooted in the example set by my parents. Growing up, I witnessed their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to their careers. Their unwavering work ethic instilled in me the importance of diligence, responsibility, and striving for excellence in everything I do. This foundation has shaped my approach to work, allowing me to consistently deliver high-quality results and maintain a strong sense of professionalism.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

“As a beauty professional, I get to wake up every day and do what I love, helping others feel confident and beautiful. The excitement comes from the creativity, the connection with clients, and the constant learning that keeps my passion alive. With many new endeavors on the horizon, I’m thrilled to continue growing in this field and expanding my impact. My brand, Excellence Noir by Whitney Denise, allows me to share my unique vision and stamp my name across the globe, driving me to reach even greater heights in my career.”

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities and skills in my journey were resilience, adaptability, and a strong foundation in my craft.

1. Resilience: There were times when things didn’t go as planned, but resilience helped me push through setbacks and keep moving forward. For those starting out, it’s crucial to embrace challenges as learning opportunities. Build mental toughness by setting small, achievable goals that gradually increase in difficulty.

2. Adaptability: The beauty industry is always evolving, and being able to adapt to new trends, techniques, and technologies is key. Stay curious and open-minded. Take every opportunity to learn, whether it’s through formal education, workshops, or simply experimenting on your own.

3. Mastery of Craft: A deep knowledge of skincare and makeup techniques has been a cornerstone of my success. To those just starting out, focus on mastering the basics first. Invest time in practicing your skills, seek feedback, and never stop learning. The more you know, the more confident and creative you can be.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is to be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, but with resilience, adaptability, and a dedication to your craft, you’ll find success in your own way.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I focus on a few simple steps:

1. I tackle the most important tasks first to make sure I’m working on what really matters.

2. Short breaks help me clear my mind and come back more focused.

3. I talk to my family and friends that I trust if I need support or advice.

4. I do things I enjoy to keep myself balanced.

My advice is to notice when you’re overwhelmed and use these steps to manage it. It’s okay to slow down and take care of yourself.
