We were lucky to catch up with Whitney McCoy-Cooper recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my family. Growing up I watched my mom and grandmother work hard. They were always doing any job they did with excellence. From the church to the their day jobs.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Global Project Manager during the day and looking to transition that into contract work. When I am not working on projects, I am focused on helping moms ditch procrastination and achieve their goals. I get excited when I see finished results which is why it makes me so happy to be able to offer a group coaching session this fall.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe that being in management helped me develop certain qualities for others. I am respectful, open to hearing others thoughts and empowering individuals. I think people do not give enough credit to 9-5 jobs. These types of experiences help train you and can really be pivotal in your journey.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Feeling overwhelmed can be apart of life but does not have to be. I literally stop and take a deep breathe and reset. I decide what is important to me and how I structure my time.
