Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Whitney Sinclaire. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Whitney, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
In grade school, I was a super tiny girl. When I made it to college, my bad eating started to catch up with me. I noticed that I started gaining a lot of weight and realized I needed to start working out. Though I started, I was very inconsistent and my eating did not match my weight loss goals. I didn’t start taking my health and fitness journey seriously until my family had a health scare. During that time, I realized that what I put in my body plays a huge part in the life I get to live. I started reading labels, limiting fast and fried food, working out consistently and reading up on ways to stay healthy.
About 2 years later, I took a job that moved me out of my hometown that I had been in my entire life. I moved alone; I didn’t have any family or friends that lived in this new city. I had a lot of free time. With the extra time on my hands, I spent a lot of time in the gym and this is the moment I really fell in love with fitness and strength training.
Fitness helped me through multiple seasons of my life by allowing me to have an outlet to relieve stress and better myself. It also helped me with my confidence. I realized how much fitness transformed my life, so I decided I wanted to help other people transform their lives through fitness as well. I studied and obtained my Personal Trainer certification and I created an instagram dedicated to fitness.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a newly Certified Personal Trainer. I train clients in small group settings where we focus on resistance training. I also have a fitness instagram page. I use this platform to uplift aspiring and current women on their health and fitness journeys by providing tips, workouts and healthy food recipes.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Consistency, commitment and resilience are three qualities that have really helped me throughout my journey. Resilience is so important and needed. During your journey, there will be ups and downs but as long as you keep going you will reach your destination.
My advice to people who are early in their journey is to just start and stay consistent. Meet yourself where you are and start with the resources you have at this very moment. The longer we make excuses, the longer it will be until we reach our goals and our purpose. Remaining consistent is also key. Consistency will always yield results; even if they are not quick results, you will get better and better over time when you stick to it.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The book that has played an important role in my development is “The Mountain is You, Transforming Self-Sabotage into Self-Mastery” by Brianna West. My introverted personality can sometimes seem to block me from opportunities, but I have learned how to step out of my comfort zone to create the life I want. In this book, it points out things we may think are small but are actually playing a huge part in our self-sabotage. It touches on letting go of unrealistic expectations, releasing the past, building emotional intelligence and more. Such a great read!
