Whitney , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
As a young, stay at home mom in a new city, I really discovered I needed a way to find a purpose outside of being a mom. I have loved sharing my cleaning tips, schedules and tricks for many years, so I turned that passion into a business. Starting a cleaning business gave me the freedom of my own schedule, being able to bring my kids along with me, and doing something that I love!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I specialize in Airbnb Cleaning specifically. I started my own Airbnb cleaning business from scratch and built up my team of 10 in one year. What I love most about my job & business, is the flexibility it’s given me as a stay at home mom, to still be available for my kids, have days off, choose my schedule, while also getting to do something I enjoy (cleaning!) Airbnb cleaning is much different than residential, and my team goes above and beyond to keep our properties spotless & appealing for guests. Jumping into the Airbnb world has been such an amazing opportunity for me & my entire team.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I like to remind everyone that when I started, I had zero business experience. I was a stay at home mom (with a degree in education) that loved cleaning and decided to start a full blown cleaning business. Organization & communication are two of the most important aspects of starting up your business. I believe cleaning is a skill that can be acquired by anyone, it just takes time, detail & an extremely good work ethic 🙂
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The biggest challenge when starting up my business (along with keeping it running) is learning systems of communication and managing your team. I have had a lot of wonderful help along the way to help build up my business and get systems in place. Over time, I have learned over communication is key for my Airbnb cleaning business & we continue to work on improving that at all times.
