We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Wilfredo Diaz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Wilfredo , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Going through a life full of challenges since I was a kid I saw myself in a position where I had to decided wether to grow or stay behind in life, I developed a passion for self development and personal growth and this helped me to develop other aspects of my life, others as crucial as my confidence and self-esteem, during my early years this was something I struggled with, experiencing the absence of a father figure when I was very young and the absence of a mother figure shortly afterwards, caused a great impact on my self confidence, working on this has been an unforgettable but beautiful experience.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a writer and author, I decided to follow into this beautiful art when I realised that I could share to the world my story, the things I learned, anything I could find that could make the world a better place and anything that could help change and improve the life of another human being, I find really exciting the fact that I feel somehow related to every person, everyone has a bit of me in their life and I a bit of them, since I developed this passion for writing I have created a program called “growing is power” designed to motivate people to immerse themselves in this fantastic and wonderful world, one that could help anyone to overcome many obstacles and challenges in life. this program is based on my first book called “crecer es poder” (Spanish for Growing is power) available in amazon in paperback and KDP
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
-I think the first one was this intense desire to become better
every day.
questioning myself continuously and not allowing conformity in my life, I once told my two sons that anything bad that could have happened in past lives was ending in this one and that from this one on everything would be just wonderful for this and future generations.
-the second one was to learn to love myself more then anything in the world.
It may sound narcissistic but it has to be done, if you don’t love yourself no one else will.
-and the third one was to believe I was good enough.
People have the tendency to make you feel small and that is only the result of their own fears, he who never achieved anything cannot bear the thought of you making it, always believe in yourself.
Earl nightingale once said: the architect of the world didn’t built a stairway leading nowhere!
There is a purpose for you here so make it count!
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Learning to value peace of mind, very often us, human beings complicate our lives without the need for it, compromising the treasure of having a quite mind, learn to let go of the things you can’t control is key to find the peace of mind you are looking for.
It has been my biggest treasure lately.
