Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to William Boyce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
William, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I’m from an era in New York where you was taught that the work you put in is the reward you get out. That’s just how it was. You can’t complain about results if you didn’t put in the effort. I learned early on that no one’s handing you anything — if you mess up, you own it, you learn from it, and you get better. That mindset stuck with me. It’s not about making excuses — it’s about holding yourself down, figuring it out, and doing the work.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve always had a love for entertainment — whether it was rap, R&B, TV shows, movies, or even commercials. It’s just always been in me. But Heavybetters Entertainment isn’t just about me — it’s a family movement. We’re a multimedia company based in Houston, Texas, and everything we do is rooted in passion and unity.
Heavybetters actually started out as a record label in New York City. We had artists, dropped music, and I was also behind the camera — shooting videos, creating artwork, just building the vision. But that was just the beginning.
Fast forward to now — we’ve been out in Houston for years, working with some legendary artists, Label Executives, entrepreneurs and building something real. Like we always say: it ain’t where you from, it’s where you at. And right now, we’re proud to be here.
That leads us to Houston Raised, our new documentary — streaming for free on Fawesometv. We also got Outsidetv, our TV series available on vimeo.com, and we’re currently shooting our first comedy special. It’s a blessing, and I can’t thank everyone enough for the love and support. We truly appreciate it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
“Area’s of knowledge”
Accepting Losing is one, Because it helped me learn. In the Filming business you have to really present to people why they should believe in your vision and it’s not all rose’s.
As for Skills, Offcourse we all should strive to be skilled and porvide great work. But for what we do that’s up to the people your providing the service to. That’s the reason for categories like Horror, Comedy, action, and so forth. People like what they like, the movie can be trash to you and still get nominated for an award.
But what I will say is believe in yourself and don’t fold on your vision, but you have to work the hardest you have ever worked in life.
I
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
There are people who don’t believe in my vision or my potential, and at times, that negativity can be discouraging. It’s challenging when your effort is overlooked or underestimated, especially when you’re striving toward something that others can’t yet see.
But instead of letting doubt define me, I chose to let it fuel me. I’ve committed to putting in the work consistently—whether that means long hours, learning new skills, or pushing through setbacks. I’m focusing on progress, not perfection, and every small win reinforces that I’m on the right path. By showing up every day and staying disciplined, I’m starting to see real results, and those results are becoming the best response to any doubt.
