We recently connected with William Ferchichi and have shared our conversation below.
Hi William, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
It comes from the fear of not completing a task, the fear that forms inside the stomach and the soul. So to remove this fear, I continue to insist and work hard to transform fear into freedom and satisfaction.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have always done many jobs since I was young… I liked some jobs, some I did out of necessity.
Then I discovered that I would rather create something with some tool than sit in the office from nine to five. Passionate in love with the fashion, with the lights, its colors, its mystery, and its contradictions, passionate about subjective beauty… I combined these pleasures with photography, trying to express myself in this industry with a camera.
Now I am mainly a fashion and beauty photographer. I have been doing it for many years, have worked in many cities around the world, and it is a path that continues, with various projects to invent, to redo, to fix…
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. The fear I mentioned before is overwhelming; I can’t tolerate the constant annoyance within me. It’s the fear of inaction that affects everything I do. I realize that I need to eliminate this fear and focus on actions that genuinely benefit me.
2. Achieving any goal, big or small, often comes with compromises for ourselves and others. The journey is filled with obstacles and challenges, but once we push through the darkness, we can finally see the light.
3. Regardless of how difficult the work may be, finding pleasure and fun along our journey is essential. By staying true to our own paths, we can ultimately achieve results that lead to great happiness.
When it comes to pursuing a new job or career path, it’s important to understand that there’s no single recipe for success. The journey can take many forms, with countless rules and pathways that may lead you to your desired outcome.
Before diving in, take time to analyze whether you possess the resilience and patience to explore various approaches. It’s crucial to be prepared to engage with different paths—trying and failing—because every experience, whether it leads to joy or setbacks, contributes to your growth. Embrace the mix of emotions: the fear, the desire for achievement, the smiles, the tears, the victories, and even the defeats. All of these elements are integral to any job or project.
No matter the field—be it art, law, or any creative endeavor—preparation is key. Continuous learning and staying updated on the tools and techniques relevant to your profession are essential. You must understand what the market demands and be willing to adapt to its evolution. Ultimately, dedicating yourself to mastering your craft will ensure that you can deliver quality work, no matter the challenges you face. So, contemplate whether you have these qualities within you and if you are ready to discover and nurture them.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I’m not a great reader but films, cinema stories, especially the social ones where those from a lower role rose to a stronger role, have had a great educational, training and professional impact.
