We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful William Pierre. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with William below.
William, thank you so much for making time for us. We’ve always admired your ability to take risks and so maybe we can kick things off with a discussion around how you developed your ability to take and bear risk?
I developed my ability to take risks by thinking with my mind first. What I came to understand was that most of time we already know how to do something or suspect a good outcome from something, its the influence around us that often distracts us. Moreover our biggest obstacle is ourselves. We always go back and forth within ourselves, once your mentally competent with the task at hand risks are second nature. The only way to be successful is to take risks!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi guys, my name is William and I own an Artist Management company called Heart of a Lion that helps develop artists in every aspect of their career. Whats so unique about my company is that it tries to help the talent in every way, not just the norm. Assisting in marketing, social media marketing, distribution, and project assisting, Heart of a Lion ensures to cover all aspects of the talents career. At the core of all these features, as the owner of Heart of a Lion, Im always 100 percent completely honest in all dealings and associations. In addition assuring that the artist knows about their funds and creating a collaborative environment rather than a hierarchy. The people I currently work with have came a long way. There are great things on the horizon for them and the business. One of the projects being involved with filmography by summer 2023.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Compassion & Understanding 2. Follow your first mind
3.Making methodical key decisions rather than quick decisions
These 3 qualities have helped me get to where Im at I my career thus far. If you’re early in your journey in music in whatever lane you decide, always remain compassionate and understand the people you work with. A lot of times in this industry, you’re looked at as tool rather than a human or perceived in the light of “what you can do for me.” Never treat people that way. Also make sure you follow your first mind, there are many distractions that are meant for you to fail. You don’t have to attend every event and meet everyone. You just have to attend the right event and meet the right people. Also keep in mind there will always be someone that will tell you “no” and this can come from the person closest to you. Stay focused and never make decisions where you feel pressured or just to make someone that has no relation to your goals happy. Remain true and respect everyone.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
First and foremost, an ideal client for me is someone that knows who they are as an artist. Secondly, someone who doesn’t have a chip on their shoulder but they understand what it takes to succeed and are willing to scratch and hustle their way to the top. Heart of a Lion is for artists who are real to themselves and the industry. In the sense that they keep their dealings genuine, respectful, and do not take short cuts or make bad decisions for their career.
