Wini , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

In my 20s, I searched endlessly for my purpose, questioning if I was on the right path. Today, I see that God was guiding me all along—the purpose I was meant for found me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am the founder of Jade Bridal, a boutique dedicated to creating meaningful bridal experiences. While we are new to the Tampa Bay area, having opened our Tampa location just over a year ago, our roots run deep. For more than a decade, Jade Bridal served brides in Chicago with exceptional care and a curated selection of designer gowns. In celebration of our 10th anniversary, we chose to relocate to Tampa to share our expertise, passion, and distinctive bridal collection with the brides of Florida.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Below are the few things that are most impactful in my small business journey/entrepreneurship.

Listening Skills – Working with brides and guiding them to find their dream wedding dress has greatly strengthened my listening skills. Every bride comes with a unique vision, emotions, and expectations, and I’ve learned the importance of truly hearing their needs—both spoken and unspoken. This ability to listen with patience and empathy not only helps me understand their style but also builds trust, making the journey to finding the perfect gown a meaningful and memorable experience. Listening skills are very important in every industry. We have to listen to understand the need of our customers/clients in order to accomplish the goals and reach success.

Building Trusting Relationships – Building trusting relationships with customers is one of the most important responsibilities of a small business owner. Unlike larger companies, small businesses often thrive on personal connections and word-of-mouth referrals. Trust is created through consistency, honesty, and genuine care—when customers feel valued, heard, and supported, they are far more likely to return and to recommend your business to others. For us at Jade Bridal, that trust is what transforms a simple transaction into a meaningful relationship, creating loyal customers who become part of our story

Understand You Brand – Understanding your business brand and your client group is essential to reaching the right audience. As a small business, it’s not just about what you sell—it’s about clearly defining who you are, what values you represent, and who you serve. When you have a deep understanding of your brand identity, you can communicate it consistently across every touchpoint, from marketing to customer service. At the same time, knowing your client group—their needs, preferences, and expectations—allows you to tailor your products, services, and messaging to resonate with them. This alignment between brand identity and target audience is what attracts the right clientele, builds loyalty, and sets your business apart from the competition.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

One of my favorite and top recommend book to all entrepreneurs and small business owner is “Brand Identity Breakthrough” by Gregory V. Diehl.

Many people confuse advertising, marketing, and branding, but each plays a very different role in a business. Advertising is about promoting specific products or services, while marketing focuses on strategies to reach and engage your audience. Branding, however, goes much deeper—it defines who you are as a business, what you stand for, and how customers perceive you. Strong branding creates recognition, trust, and emotional connection, which makes all your marketing and advertising efforts more effective. Without a clear and consistent brand, even the best advertising campaigns can fall flat. That’s why branding is one of the most important foundations for long-term business success.

I highly recommend this book to all small business owners and entrepreneurs.
