Winne , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

One of my most influential mentors was an architect I interned for during my time in college. His
dedication, passion, and creativity left a profound impact on me as a designer. Working alongside him, I
was deeply inspired by his ability to infuse every aspect of design with passion and purpose. His
mentorship taught me that design goes beyond just structures; it encompasses storytelling, evoking
emotion, and creating memorable experiences. This philosophy resonates deeply with bridal design,
where crafting beautiful dresses is just one part of a larger narrative, capturing emotions and creating
unforgettable moments for brides on their special day. His guidance instilled in me the value of infusing
creativity and passion into every aspect of my work, a lesson I continue to carry with me as a wedding
dress designer.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My passion for bridal design stems from my upbringing in Hong Kong, where I was immersed in a rich
tapestry of culture and creativity. From a young age, I found joy in sketching and crafting, immersing
myself in the enchantment of creation. At the age of 15, I moved to the U.S. to further my education, and
upon graduating from college, I decided to turn my passion into something real. That’s when I founded
Winnie Couture. It was a leap of faith, but I felt compelled to follow my heart. It’s been a journey of ups
and downs, but above all, it’s been driven by love for what I do. Every dress I create is infused with a
piece of my heart, dedicated to bringing magic to life for brides on their special day. At Winnie Couture, we’re redefining the bridal experience by challenging conventions and pushing boundaries.
Our designs are a fusion of classic elegance and contemporary flair, offering brides a fresh perspective on traditional wedding attire. By embracing innovative techniques and materials, we are able to
create gowns that not only capture the essence of timeless beauty but also reflect the individuality of each
bride. Our commitment to disruption extends beyond design; it’s about empowering brides to embrace
their unique style and celebrate their love story in a way that’s truly their own.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

These words of advice have served as guiding principles throughout my career:

Perseverance: One of the most impactful pieces of advice I have received is to persevere in the face of
challenges. Early in my career, I encountered numerous obstacles that tested my resolve. Whether it was
navigating the complexities of the industry or overcoming obstacles, I learned the importance of staying
steadfast in pursuit of my goals. This lesson was particularly evident when I faced a period of creative
stagnation. Instead of giving in to discouragement, I persevered, pushing through the uncertainty and
emerging with newfound inspiration and clarity.

Individuality: Another invaluable lesson I’ve learned is the importance of embracing my unique
perspective in my work. In a world where trends come and go, honoring my distinct voice has been
essential to my success. This advice became especially meaningful to me when I was tempted to
compromise my artistic integrity to conform to market expectations. Instead, I chose to trust my instincts
and celebrate my individuality, leading to designs that resonate deeply with my clients and reflect my true
artistic essence.

Insight: An essential aspect I have acquired is the importance of approaching my work with a deep
understanding of my bride’s needs and individual stories. This principle becomes undeniably clear during
their visits to our flagship locations, where we meticulously choose dresses that embody their vision and
reflect their uniqueness. This personalized approach ensures that each bride finds a gown that not only
fulfills her aesthetic desires but also honors her personal journey.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

We continually explore innovative ways to revolutionize the bridal industry. Our commitment to pushing
boundaries and embracing creativity fuels our mission to redefine bridal fashion. One of our upcoming

initiatives is to expand our collection of nontraditional bridal wear to meet the increasing demand from
brides seeking unique and personalized gowns in vibrant colors, modern designs, and diverse styles.
While traditional white remains a timeless option for brides, we have noticed an exciting trend towards a
more diverse and colorful bridal palette. Soft pastels, bold hues, and even striking black dresses are
captivating brides’ imaginations, granting them unparalleled freedom to express their individuality and
style. This dynamic shift in bridal fashion not only reflects changing preferences but also signifies a
broader embrace of cultural diversity and personal expression, marking the beginning of a new era of
inclusivity within the industry.
